If there was no apostasy in the Church of Jesus Christ, then what happened to prophets? They were a crucial part of the original Church. Some Christians claim that there was no need for prophets after the coming of Jesus Christ. This is a terribly misinformed belief, for the New Testament clearly and repeatedly reports that prophets and prophecy were integral parts of the original Church of Jesus Christ after Christ had ascended to heaven. For example, consider Acts 13:1-3.

There was, however, an apostasy.
Acts 20:29,30 says there would be.

A prophet is simply someone who speak for God. There have always been prophets. There will alwys BE prophets. Very often, prophets come as "reformers." Such as Sts. Francis of Assisi and Teresa of Avila. They changed the whole church. Brought it back to what it was meant to be.

I agree with you that this belief that there are no more prophets is misinformation.

If there were no more prophets then why do we have 10 new Protestant denominations spring up each year? Who's going to tell these people they're being led astray?

Maybe telling people there are no more prophets is the Protestant way of getting around not having dogma. I dunno.

Christ was the ultimate revelation to the world. Therefore, any prophets after that event would all be little “p” prophets concerning relatively small matters. Any “prophet” that preaches “a different gospel” than what was given to us by the Apostles is a false prophet and must be flatly rejected.

there are a number of prophets in the body of Christ that are so quickly said to be "false prophets".. when what they say doesnt happen immediately or the next day. (where anyone gets the idea that its supposed to, i dont know)

so many people misunderstand that prophecy doesnt have a time table to nail it down precisely.
just like with (for instance) the latter day prophecies of Jesus, and the Apostle John's revelation. there's no deffinate time table there. yet all christians accept it as Bible truth.

why do such who bring judgement require of men lesser than Jesus.. to do more than He?

No, you are mistaken. You are confusing prophets with the gift of prophecy. The Holy Spirit has been given us to speak to our hearts and give us gifts and wisdom. There are no men who are holier than other men any more.

Like the time between malachi and mathew when GOD did not speak, the time has come and GOD is speaking through His Prophets once again.

Don't stay in the letter of the Bible. Focus on the spirit of the Bible.
Don't forget that God can not be judged and as a God He can do whatever he likes.

Why do you think they left? Prophets are still among us carrying out the prophetic ministry.
