Violence, or the threat of future violence (Hell) has been used by many religions as a tool for gaining new adherents. Has it been their most successful tool?

Could it be that the Muslims are telling us the truth when they say Bin Laden and his gang are heretics , not Muslims? I suspect it is true this really is the truth. I think 1.5 billion terrorists would be much worse than what we already see. Peace is a good idea and I believe the majority of Muslims would agree. What do people think?

I just received this e-mail.

"Message: Greetings,
Sorry that you don't have a God that is living or real. Unfortunately for yourself the bible is the true and unerring word of God given to us so that we may live our lives in a good and fruitful manner. Scince you have detoured from the path that the one and only God has desired for you it doesn't surprise me that you have the attitude about not being morally responsible for your children's upbringing and this will come back to plague as the years filter by. Should you be interested in looking at the past forty years or so you will be able to see how attitudes as your own have affected this country in a detremental way and not in a good healthy growth of our government policies and moral conditions."

So is my attitude that the bible is hate filled bigoted fiction the reason that our government is screwed up?

I thank my friend buttercup for the idea for this question.

What I am wondering is, did you research your beliefs and any others to decide what makes sense to you? How and where did you research? Specifically, did you ever look anywhere else besides your precious religious books?

Because something eternal has no beginning and no end. So if you're going to be in heaven for eternity (or some other imaginary candy-land for that matter) then your "soul" must have been somplace before you were born. Where?
And why don't you have any recollection of it?
For that matter, when you die and go to "heaven" will you have any recollection of life on earth?

"Celestial beings closest to humans, Angels are the intermediaries between God and mortals. Assigned by God to every human being at the time of his or her birth, they assist every aspect of life in the universe. They deal with the aspects of everyday life and act as the direct gateway for information, knowledge and communications between human kind and the God force. These angels are seen with human bodies, wings and clothed in various garments depending on the traditions and visual acceptance of the human they have "been assigned to". In reality, Angels do not have human bodies, wings or clothing, they are made up of energy and love. The only thing Angels do not help humans do is destroy themselves, the planet and other human beings, they are always a force for all that is positive, good and true."

This obviously scared the crap out of the gods (Gen 3:22), and is why Adam and Eve were banished from Eden.

Is this how the Christian god become god? Just eating some fruit? That isn't that special.

As christians we are suposed to help people in need. If you see somebody asking for money, are you supposed to give them money all the time you see them? is ok to give a couple of dollars or give them most or all we have at that moment? Times are different this days and I heard stories of people that got hurt while trying to help others or give them money. As christians what are we supposed to do?

Matthew 25:42-48

42 For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’
44 “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’

45 “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me"

Christians preach the doctrine that all must come to Christ to be saved. They continually promote the idea that all people possess the ability to choose to accept Christ into their life -- that all people can call upon the name of the Lord and be saved -- that God wants all people to come to the truth. And while they can easily bring forth numerous biblical verses that confirm their position, it is also true that there exist an even greater number of biblical verses which state that the opposite is true -- i.e., that certain people do not possess the freewill to accept Christ, and their lives have been preordained to reject Christ by the very Hand of God that controls every aspect of the life we live.

What Say You To This?

(Anyone that would like to answer, please feel free. Regardless of religious orientation or belief. I pose this question merely to hear the different answers from other like-minded individuals.)

Thank You.

Don't people know who led the battle for abolition of slavery? It wasn't baptists or methodists, it was QUAKERS. And I'm not talking about the southern kind, but the original kind based in Pennsylvania (William Penn, the founder of said state, was a Quaker.) If any organized religion ever worked hard for the decent treatment of blacks, it was the Quakers. Every African-American in the country should do a little research on the matter.

I agree with Dr. Dobson. This is a sin, and I hope that real Christians won't let a little pain cause them to create this whole underworld drug industry.

The belief in Christ should already overtake any pain they might have. We are dealing with something as terrible as gay marriage on our society. First this, then pretty soon we will be having weed handed out to us at church!

How many children in Columbia must die for you to get high?

Jesus would be angry with you! It's time for Christians to take a stand on real biblical issues like marijuana, homosexuality, judicial appointments, etc!

Otherwise, we are going to be flooded with muslyms.

People have been saying that the end is near for 3,000 years, and EVERY time they are wrong.

Why do they keep doing this?

And better yet why do these idiots listen and believe that they are right?

If the end of the world is going to happen then it will happen without all these idiotic predictions!

I believe there are "absolutes" when it comes to judging people. For example, it's not ok for priests to molest children period! It's not ok to drive while under the influence period! It's not ok, to hate someone based on their color, sex, religion, or sexual orientation. Comments?
