a humorous one, which would convey to others that I do have a sense of humor.
Some people think buddhists take life so seriously and have no fun. My wife, and two children and I are Buddhists, who are humorous, and have a great deal of fun in life
yet really enjoy helping others in any way we
can.

Can some please explain to me in detail how to do this.

Thank You,

With Metta {loving-kindness and friendship).

In your opinion, what is our purpose? Why do you think we are here?

It is undeniable that even the simplest form of life couldn't just exist fully formed out of nothing, out of nowhere, with no origin or history or reason for its existence of any kind. Something had to be responsible for it.

Even more so for a human being - It's surely no coincidence that the most complex object in the known universe, the human brain, is also the only thing we all recognise as being truly intelligent. It's inconceivable that a human being could just exist fully formed from nowhere, for no reason, with no origin of any kind.

Given all this, how can anyone believe that something infinitely more amazing than even a human being - an intelligent entity capable of designing and creating an entire universe - could just exist with no origin of any kind? Clearly, this defies reason. Anything complex, and especially anything intelligent, can only be the product of a natural process (e.g. evolution) or an antecedent intelligence. To deny this is simply nonsensical.

its funny, i was watching Borat yesterday ( DVD out now folks) and remember that rodeo manager guy that was fooled into letting him sing the national anthem in the rodeo event ( and ended up almost creating a scene from the christ cruxifiction)?
He said something like ( talking about how the crowd was just outraged by Borat actions):
"these are good, old fashioned God fearing Americans..they will skin you!"
LOL isnt that the truth!
If anyone has seen the movie, yall remember what they were cheering at before they realized he was just making fun of them..oy!

Help! I'm looking for a correspondence or Houston program for Religious Studies/Theology, both Masters/PhD. I found $4000 1 year Doctor of Divinity course by correspondence (67 hours) but it's not accredited. Other Masters programs have prerequisites I don't have (I have a B.A. in Math/Art with 1 philosophy course and no history/religion/political science).

Would like a program that is dissertation based, where research is into proving the universality of God by reconciling different denominations and religions on an agreed interpretation of scriptures that is consistent with all traditions. Would like to work with scholars in Christianity, Buddhism, Islam and Constitutional studies especially regarding church/state law and religious freedom. I would like to be accredited to teach at a community college level.

Can anyone recommend an academic institution or counselor I might consult with to find a suitable program? Help!

the Earth is heating up, but it isnt because of CO2 emissions by humans.
the sun is burning brighter, with more sun spots, and we are emerging from a mini ice age.

the worlds temperature fluctuates throughout history, they used to grow vines in scotland.
most of the earths CO2 comes from the sea and volcanoes and biological processes.

religion has been declining (especially protestantism) in the west, places where man made global warming is most accepted, europe.
throughout history and culture man has needed an 'end of days' prophecy. Ie armageddon, volcano gods to sacrifice to, the atomic bomb. man feels guilty, needs something in his life.
the newspapers love to scaremonger
the gouvernment benefit from carbon taxes
so you carbon offset? or do you attone for your sins against the Earth God? hoping that he will not smite us all?

are people who dont believe in global warming, heathens who reject the prophets (scientists)?

The worldwide flood that destroyed all life on earth except for Noah, his family, and the animals in the ark occurred in 4990 B.C. In 2 Peter 3 God refers back to this flood and then transitions to the end of the universe by fire. In verse 8 God says, "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." This is interesting because God told Noah to get into the ark because in 7 days He would bring the flood (Genesis 7:4).

Now if we add 7000 to 4990 B.C. (1 day = 1000 years) we arrive at the year 2011 A.D. Is the the year Christ will return as the "Lion of the tribe of Judah" to destroy the universe, bring judgment of the ungodly, and create a new Heaven and Earth wherein dwelleth righteousness?

It’s one of my pet peeves that Atheism is treated like a coherent belief system rather than being an assertion that something does not exist. We all know the story about not believing in Astrology does not make me an a-astrologer nor can you predict anything about what I do believe based on my disbelief of astrology.
Then I thought, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe the term Atheist is gradually developing a positive meaning. Does this sound right?

Why do the Methodist church called baby dedication, "Baptism"?. A young baby doesn't know what sin is and can't ask for forgivness. Other religions wait for to a person to understand, ask and accept God's Gift. Will a Methodist once they reach the age of accountability die and go to hell if they are not trully saved if they know what sin is?

A most important question that Christians today seem to have difficulty answering, is the fact that the Bible clearly teaches that we are responsible for the Divine Will that God exerts in our life.

Moreover, from our limited perspective which is caused, for some, by the inability to comprehend our own higher spiritual reality, it appears on the surface that we have done absolutely nothing to cause God to choose for us the life that we are presently living! And yet, somehow, the Church would have us believe that we are responsible for the choices that God makes for us.

In the words of Jesus: “Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!” (Matt 18:7 NIV)

Why must they come?

While it is true that many passages of scripture appear to state that sin and tribulation is a matter of freewill and choices which we have made, there are an equal number of biblical verses that state the opposite....

By pre-history, I mean archaeological findings. Why does he only acknowledge the existence of Adam and Eve? Since God knows everything, he knew we'd find the bones of the dinosaurs, yet he left us the bible story to confuse us. People say the devil is the author of confusion. "People" say the bible is god's word, yet it's causing confusion. I believe in God - The Creator - existence of The Devil - Written language gave us the ability to pass this information on to our future generations, so they can join us in the confusion, the debate, and hopefully someone in our universe can come up with a believable explanation.

I recently started hanging out with some friends that are really into drinking, going to clubs and having lots of premarital sex anywhere they can get it. I promised myself that I wouldn't get involved with any of this and would just party with them.
Regrettably, I did start to participate in some of these behaviours and I am now overwhelmed with immense guilt. How do I forgive myself? How do I get forgiveness from God?
How can I even ask you people to forgive me?
I'm so ashamed of myself....please give me REAL advice, that would be so appreciated!!! Thank you.
