the Earth is heating up, but it isnt because of CO2 emissions by humans.
the sun is burning brighter, with more sun spots, and we are emerging from a mini ice age.
the worlds temperature fluctuates throughout history, they used to grow vines in scotland.
most of the earths CO2 comes from the sea and volcanoes and biological processes.
religion has been declining (especially protestantism) in the west, places where man made global warming is most accepted, europe.
throughout history and culture man has needed an 'end of days' prophecy. Ie armageddon, volcano gods to sacrifice to, the atomic bomb. man feels guilty, needs something in his life.
the newspapers love to scaremonger
the gouvernment benefit from carbon taxes
so you carbon offset? or do you attone for your sins against the Earth God? hoping that he will not smite us all?
are people who dont believe in global warming, heathens who reject the prophets (scientists)?

While it is undeniable that global warming itself is occurring, there ARE some similarities between fundamentalist Christians and extremist environmentalists.
-Their way is the only correct answer
-If you don't follow their beliefs, they have a doomsday scenario
-They blabber incessantly about some past paradise that never existed.
The pattern is "Eden" -> "Fall from grace" (environmental damage) -> "Doomsday"
Many social scientists think that there are certain thinking patterns that are hard-wired into our brains; this may be one of them.

climate substitute is a actuality, it somewhat is been occurring simply by fact the earth began. guy made international warming is very controversial, and is not any way ordinary by using technological know-how as a actuality. Ian Plimer (Professor of Earth Sciences at Adelaide Uni) has written an extensive and appropriate e book debunking the evidence for guy-made international warming that has been given by using climate substitute scientists. some factors of his e book have been disputed by using scientists. The earth has been cooling for the final decade (scientists agree in this). we are additionally presently in an ice age, so warming is to be predicted in some unspecified time interior the destiny. A small carbon tax has a completely insignificant result on carbon emissions. If we could desire to minimize emissions (it somewhat is nonetheless very uncertain no remember if it somewhat is smart or not) we could continuously be employing nuclear potential, dramatically reducing international inhabitants growth by using any appropriate ethical potential obtainable, and adopting mass delivery.

Even the Energy Institute whores from the Cato Institute don't try to claim man isn't contributing to the problem. They simply dispute the degree and the impact. What is most odd about some conservatives, not all, is why they don't see any value in minimizing our species' environmental impact. Even if you believe we have no idea of the long range effects, that of itself is cause for caution. It simply seems to make more sense to manage our environment than to simply behave like bacteria in a petri dish and generate waste until we choke to death from it.

I think it takes a step of faith to believe that the earth or life on earth will be destroyed by global warming. To go from the fact the the Earth temperature has increase .6% in 100 years to the imminent destruction of the earth require believing something that cannot be tested by science. It is like religion to prove that it is true you can only sit and wait.

It's been proven that the difference between the minor blip-on-the-radar fluctuations you're referring to, in HISTORY lasted for only a few years at best... it's proven that what's going on NOW has lasted far longer than that is is much more severe.
Simply taking personal responsibility by making purchases in a less selfish, more mindful (of the environment and thinking of others) manner is all it takes. Hateful fingerpointing and accusations makes no sense and wastes precious time. All it is is refusal to take a moment and to act in a responsible, less selfish manner. Why is THAT so hard to subdue within ourselves?

So all the CO2 being pumped into the atmosphere is doing... what, exactly? Global warming isn't religion, it's fact.

Your information is out of step with the majority of credible research and scientific consensus. I think the reason people in certain location has to do with education and access to credible research. I don't think this is some conspiracy as you seem to believe.
From the US EPA website:
"Scientists know with virtual certainty that:
Human activities are changing the composition of Earth's atmosphere. Increasing levels of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere since pre-industrial times are well-documented and understood.
The atmospheric buildup of CO2 and other greenhouse gases is largely the result of human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels.
A warming trend of about 0.7 to 1.5°F occurred during the 20th century. Warming occurred in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, and over the oceans (NRC, 2001).
The major greenhouse gases emitted by human activities remain in the atmosphere for periods ranging from decades to centuries. It is therefore virtually certain that atmospheric concentrations of greenhouse gases will continue to rise over the next few decades.
Increasing greenhouse gas concentrations tend to warm the planet. "
From a report by International Union of Scientists:
"The scientific consensus is clearly expressed in the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Created in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization and the United Nations Environmental Programme, IPCC's purpose is to evaluate the state of climate science as a basis for informed policy action, primarily on the basis of peer-reviewed and published scientific literature. In its most recent assessment, IPCC states unequivocally that the consensus of scientific opinion is that Earth's climate is being affected by human activities: "Human activities ... are modifying the concentration of atmospheric constituents ... that absorb or scatter radiant energy. ... [M]ost of the observed warming over the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations".
IPCC is not alone in its conclusions. In recent years, all major scientific bodies in the United States whose members' expertise bears directly on the matter have issued similar statements. For example, the National Academy of Sciences report, Climate Change Science: An Analysis of Some Key Questions, begins: "Greenhouse gases are accumulating in Earth's atmosphere as a result of human activities, causing surface air temperatures and subsurface ocean temperatures to rise". The report explicitly asks whether the IPCC assessment is a fair summary of professional scientific thinking, and answers yes: "The IPCC's conclusion that most of the observed warming of the last 50 years is likely to have been due to the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations accurately reflects the current thinking of the scientific community on this issue".
Others agree. The American Meteorological Society, the American Geophysical Union, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) all have issued statements in recent years concluding that the evidence for human modification of climate is compelling."
