In the first place, you're mixing apples and oranges when you use "secure" and "believe" in the same sentence. I don't have security in what I believe; I have faith in what I believe- major difference. And I don't need others to believe the same way I do. It just turns out that alot of other people believe "in" the same things I do- but not necessarily the same way that I do. Whatever differences exist do so because it seems these days everyone has a "special insight" into the Word and wants to "wow" everybody with their stunning interpretational powers. This is very distressing in light of your misguided question because, as I've written before in this forum, the Word says very plainly at Ephesians 4:5- "One Lord, One FAITH, one baptism." Why there exists Methodists, Catholics, Protestants, Presbyterians, etc.,- I don't know. But your question does have some merit because as I've just listed a few of the different "faiths" out there, it is certainly no mystery why alot of people scratch their heads wondering which "faith" to embrace, and it creates alot of unneccessary confusion. I can't begin to count the number of times I've heard members of different "faiths" in heated "arguments" over whose faith is correct and whose is apostate, etc.If the so-called body of Christ can't get it right in public, is it any wonder the non-believers say what they do in private among themselves? I personally say screw all these damn so-called different "faiths". I'll stick with biblical Christianity, thank you.

I am secure and I don't need people to believe in what I believe. All that I ask for is the same tolerance for my beliefs that I show others.

Ask that to those bastards who killed over 2000 people on 9/11, and that still keep on killing people everyday by blowing themselves with bombs.

We humans are doomed while we keep on thinking the way we do.

If we all could just forget about religions and concentrate on what really matters: family, friendship, help others without expecting anything in return, society, and human development (science, medicine, intellect, etc), then we would be in a much better state, no wars, no killing, no hate, and more important, we would be much more advanced (if we didn’t have to use money) and probably be living a better life as medicine would be much better as well.

Keep your religion to yourself, do not go out there forcing people to believe in what you believe. If you want to help others, show them love and care, and teach them how to do the same and how to do good in life.

If there is a god out there, is expecting that, not people going to church every Sunday and then on Monday cursing at the driver next to you in traffic going to work, or stealing money from the business he/she works at while the boss is not around. Those are hypocrites.

Don’t you think?

We should grow up already and start making our society a better place.

I know what I believe, but I don't try to make others agree. I only explain when I feel like people are confused or are attacking my beliefs. I realize that everyone is at a different stage in their spiritual development, and sometimes they just need to experience the world in order to learn and evolve. You just can't rush some things.

One does not need others at all. If your security gives you comfort with the beliefs you have in yourself, why concern yourself what others may believe. Completely UN-necessary.It makes you a true individualist.

To answer you, a story:

There's this big book on gambling, see? And in this big book on gambling, called The Bible, people wager that their chances of going nowhere when they die are far too likely so they make up places to go and pass it down generation to generation until everyone forgets it's a folk story and believes it. These places are called heaven and hell. Heaven is the nice place where everyone wants to go, and hell is just the opposite. Since people are people, they have to make up rules for everything, otherwise they're not happy. So they wager that convincing others to believe in this big book as reality will guarantee them a spot in the good place, heaven. The protaganist in this book, called Jesus, says "convert everyone you can and I may just let your sorry as* in." Forgetting this was as much a folk story as Paul Bunyan and his ox, many people began scrambling to convert as many people as possible, just to selfishly get themselves into this fictional heaven. This is ridiculous for reasons that go well beyond the fact that it was all fiction to begin with; it is ridiculous because the "Major Wager" was that everyone who believed this Jesus character was the son of God would go to heaven anyway, and all who didn't would go to hell. Which is just like people, really, to make up all these rules and switch 'em up at random, even though no rule was ever needed in the first place because only people who believed this nonsense were going to heaven anyway - so why try? Then, much like people, they decided that if someone believed in Jesus but was homosexual, he/she could not enter heaven - but murderers, rapists and child molesters could. They created "abominations" for everything they could not understand even though those things weren't harming anyone, because this is what blind ignorance does to people - it gives them too much power to judge everyone but themselves. Still, human beings that they are, they never dropped the old wager that they could somehow get into heaven more easily by shoving their rhetoric down people's throats until people believed simply to clear their airways of that junk and breathe again.

The End.

That's a good point. Maybe some people try to force their religions on others to make them believe what they are doing is making a difference (therefore, they feel better about themselves). They can't let others be who they are.

I would expect that security in one's own belief should be sufficient, but after months in this forum I am convinced that it is not.

Quite possibly it's a way to feel as part of the crowd, a sense of brotherhood. But why you would want to coerce others into following your beliefs is beyond me.

I don't share any knowledge that's not asked of me.

If I were a Christian, I still wouldn't try to tell everyone to believe it because that's just wrong. Sure, you can tell me how your day has been, you can even tell me your mom's doing okay with her job... But don't tell me the things that you want me to believe just because you believe in something that I don't want to hear. That's disturbing to my personal peace.

I don't need others to believe for my sake. But the thought of people going to Hell because they have hardened their hearts against God truly breaks my heart, because I believe the word of God and I know what's in store for the unbelievers when they die, but I also know the true joy, peace, and contentment that is only found in the Lord.

Look at it this way: If GOD won't force anybody to accept Him, why do some Christians think THEY can force others to convert?

We can't win anyone to Christ by beating them over the head with our bibles or by forcing scripture down their throats. We can only truly win others to Christ by walking in love and letting them see Christ in us.
