That makes allot of sense. It it scary stuff to be told you will burn in hell forever if you don't do exactly what that God forces says. Christians even go as far as to say this is a real choice.

This is like me saying to my son: if you don't become a doctor I will put you in a cell and torture you forever. I shutter to think what this world would be like if all men thought this was acceptable behavior.

Doesn't God believe in is own golden rule?

No. If a so called Christian did that than they obviously are not a real Christian. Is that what you think? Are you questioning if you should believe in God because you are afraid of going to hell? Is that why you are asking this question? Believing in God will not keep you from going to hell.

No, we Christians believe in God because He is real.
A wise man will hear, and increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels. Proverbs 1:5
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Proverbs 1:7

No.
I believe in God because of my studies in science, archaeology, history, theology books, reading the Bible, and through personal experience.
However, to be honest, there have been times that I have wondered if I was blindly following something false. There are times that I have questioned the existence of God...especially when:
1. prayers weren't answered in my way
2. I did something wrong & he didn't punish me for it (aka-I didn't drop dead)
3. I can't get a good night sleep

I am being transparent here...because I believe that TRUTH > religious propaganda. Actually, I HATE religious propaganda (which sometimes promotes spiritual religion or secular humanistic religion).

Its sorta a damned if you do damned if you dont thing...lol

They see it like this, If we believe and its all true then we are all going to heaven...if they were wrong and its something totally different/or nothing happens they really dont lose anything there. So....they just believe whatever is fed to them or anything that gives them hope, to bad they cant find it without religion then they could acually think for themselves and stop letting the corrupt religious community take all thier money and control thier lives with thier stupid religious laws...lol

No! I believe in God because he loves us and created us in his image and the fact that I know where I am going when I die and I think that is awesome!!! Do you not believe in him because you are Afraid too?

I believe in God because He presented Himself to me and offered me His love and forgiveness and redemption and freedom and joy and peace and purpose and identity and .......

This personal relationship seems to be beyond comprehension to those who don't have it. They will come up with the most crazy explanations for why people believe in God, trying to understand it. All I can tell you is that I have found Him. He promises that all who seek with all their heart WILL find Him. If you really want to know, seek Him out.

Why should we be afraid? He is not this big mean scary monster that is forcing people to live for Him. He died for us!
He didn't have to, He chose to. No, I am not afraid not to. If you are talking about being afraid of the "hell" issue, I would love Him and live for Him regardless because of what He done for me and because He loves me and has never been nothing but good to me. I do it out of love for Him, not fear.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever should believe in Him should not perish, but have life everlasting." (John 3:16)

You'd have to be a fool to reject that kind of love.

Psalms 53:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.

And there is no fear for those of us who love God and have accepted His gift of salvation:

1John 4:18-19 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us.

So it's only the people who reject Him who need to be afraid:

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
