I just received this e-mail.

"Message: Greetings,
Sorry that you don't have a God that is living or real. Unfortunately for yourself the bible is the true and unerring word of God given to us so that we may live our lives in a good and fruitful manner. Scince you have detoured from the path that the one and only God has desired for you it doesn't surprise me that you have the attitude about not being morally responsible for your children's upbringing and this will come back to plague as the years filter by. Should you be interested in looking at the past forty years or so you will be able to see how attitudes as your own have affected this country in a detremental way and not in a good healthy growth of our government policies and moral conditions."

So is my attitude that the bible is hate filled bigoted fiction the reason that our government is screwed up?

The God that I believe in does not have human flaws like jealousy and vengence.

Whoever wrote that to you wrote a bunch of rubbish. Pay that person no mind whatsoever. If anything it's intolerant, hateful, and ignorant people like that who are to blame for all of the garbage that's going on in the world.

No. I don't think that a human trait such as 'hate' can be quantified in such a way, that is; attributed to one group of human beings.

I am a Christian, and I have flaws. I became a Christian while telling God about those flaws of mine. So I couldn't deny the existence of flaws within myself. I might be able to fool someone else, but not my God!

"So is my attitude that the bible is hate filled bigoted fiction the reason that our government is screwed up?"

Yes, your attitude is the problem. lol ( It's all YOUR fault!)

Who can attribute the way our govenment is to anyone currently living? Please, don't over react. ( Like that letter was an example of.)

"The God that I believe in does not have human flaws like jealousy and vengence."

Okay. But just to let you know, there is nothing wrong with jealousy and vengeance IF they are applied in the right manner. Since God is supposed to do the saving, I think that His jealousy for me is a wonderful thing. Not that I want to incur His wrath, but I get pretty jealous of Him too. Jealousy can motivate desire, don't you see? And acts of desire can be a good thing, after all.
Vengeance is something that God claims for Himself. I'll not behave like that if I can help it. I can't see around the corners that God can see around. So I leave that up to Him as much as possible.

Sounds like a Christian talking about an atheist as well.

A good Christian will say, have a nice day and walk on. Many don't.

Maybe THAT's the MARK OF THE BEAST, if so a lot of people have it....

Much of the world's problems today are due to christianity and their increasing efforts to foist it upon other cultures and societies. Then when people stand firm to say "no", they condemn others and claim they are persecuted....

The email you referenced is a perfect example of intolerance and manipulative efforts to use a condescending scare tactic to get others to conform...

scary, huh?

I blame hate on those who promote it. They come from all walks of life.

We all get hate mail. I'd suggest you just toss out the bad and forget about it. I don't dwell on them because that's giving them more consideration than they deserve.

wow the person that wrote that is kinda arrogant...

but i blame human nature of being greedy, powerhungry, and territorial.

i blame religion for being a mask to obtain those things in a "divine" way.

No, it is human nature to hate. As Christians, we are supposed to rise above it.

Also as Christians, it is NOT OUR JOB TO JUDGE others. Whoever wrote you that email was a Christian because it suits them and makes them look righteous, not because they've recieved true grace.

hate is caused by fear, fear is caused by not being able to think. Thinking requires value in reason and logic, religion is about faith, which is the abdication of reason and logic. Yes Virginia there is a Santa Clause. And he is coming to get you!

No, I blame misinformed, intolerant people for the hate in this world. I don't think religion has anything to do with it. Everyone has free will.

I blame Satan for the hate. The non-Christians will have to bare responsibility for keeping it going.
