Or what about people who are attractive but can't get married because they really don't have anything in common with anyone? Should those people be condemned to a life of celibacy too?

Why is the church punishing people who can't get married, even if they want to?

Some of my family is Catholic and they were always raised that when you give something up for Lent, you give it up for the full 40 days. However, she has been engaged to another Catholic man, who was raised that on Sundays G-d gives you a break--i.e. if you gave up sweets for Lent, you can have them on Sunday.

Which way were you raised? Which one is right? Did his family just make up a loophole or is it real?

For every athiest MD or Psychologist out there, if a man proclaims a vision of Christ and of angels, or gets visitations from what the Bible declares to be true, there is a stereotype of all mental illness being asociated with the spirit of God.
This to me is no better than shooting the messenger!
How many christians agree?

Perhaps I lead a very sheltered life, but I have never seen so much persecution of Christians until I started getting on Yahoo answers. I live in a very rural, Southern Baptist, down home country, town, and the majority of people are Christians, and raise their children Christians. My family and the people I have known all my life are not Bible thumping, religious fanatics, trying to cram our beliefs down anyones throat. We simply believe very strongly in the existance of God, the teachings of the Bible, and have a great love of Jesus and God. We don't wish harm on anyone. We arn't a cult, trying to get people to give us their life savings,to support our crazy beliefs. We are normal, loving people, whose main goal in life is to be good, Christians, minister about the gift of eternal life, and we want our children to have that gift too. However, I am shocked at the number of people on here, who say we are brainwashers, idiots, and evil. Why? Because we have faith in a higher power?

in James it says that "the effectual fervant prayer of a righteous man availeth much"...is that the same as begging? and doesn't that go against faith?

Why do people think interms or respecting other beliefs... not rescuing people from abuse if going 2b hurt?

ie if a group stones people to death for dating or being gsy.

Why say its their beleifs and we respect them...

Why not be horrorief somone is about to be hurt who could be your sister or say you.

And want to resque them...

ie no beliefs on gods, cultures, traditions, relgions etc.

Just are people heros, hurters or victems

Why do some people that are Christians or baptist or whoever believe that you can do whatever you want during the week, living like a rank sinner but Sunday comes and everybody wants to be more holier than thou.

Not saying I have a problem with other religions, but it seems contradictory to me that someone would claim to be Jewish and a UU, Catholic and a UU or Baha'i and a UU. Can you explain this?

Also, can you be an atheist and a UU?
