Or what about people who are attractive but can't get married because they really don't have anything in common with anyone? Should those people be condemned to a life of celibacy too?

Why is the church punishing people who can't get married, even if they want to?

CC, you are right. I'm Pagan, so this doesn't apply to me at all. I was just wondering how people who are trapped by this principal deal with it.

first of all the church is not teaching the whole side of the story with marriage because first of all marriage were prearranged by the father back then and this happened at 12 or 13 years old (see 1 cor 7:36 in the KJV).....so technically sex before marriage hardly ever existed because men and women didnt think about sex because they didnt reach puberty yet....there are different views on this issue and i encourage you to read all of them...many chrsitians like to enforce their views on others just like politics....another thing too marriage was also ownership rights to the woman and adultery was trying to steal another mans woman as explained in the 10 commandments and it clearly states that adultery is no different than stealing another mans property but adultery was worst because ownership of a woman as the most sacretist and even Jesus talked about adultery in matt 5:28 because marriage was very cultural back then but today marraige is not that big of a deal bcause many people divorce even christians - 50% of them get divorced......but today people dont see marriage as ownership they see it as equall leadership or feminism so we are in a different culture and so people think that marriage is not needed today ..so we have to seek god in prayer on this issue, i personally believe that marriage is cultural alot of people viewed marriage as very sacret and thus God encouraged it it was very cultural......concerning celebacy only certain people were allowed to be celebate they have to have the gift first (see matt 19 and 1 cor 7)

First of all i don't belive that unattractive people can't get married. Second maybe instead of spending their all their time trying to have sex with people if a person spends their time becomeing the person that they need to be, instead of worrying about finding Mr/Miss Right. They need to be Mr/Miss Right and then find the person who they will spend the rest of their life with.

If you can't find someone to have a relationship with that might lead to marriage, how on earth will you find someone to have sex with?

I think you've got a very strange view of relationships.

BTW - There's nothing wrong with having sex with whomever you want, as long as they consent.

I've run into some mighty unattractive married people, so that argument strikes me as being something of a non sequitir.

Matthew 16:4 An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign; and a sign will not be given it, ....?
O Christians according to Jesus pbuh, you are Adulterous generation. Please let me know ratio of love childern in Christian population. I know America 41% generation is out of Adultery.

Bible advise to Burn the Daughter of Priest if she does sex
Leviticus 21:9
And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

Genesis
38:24 And it came to pass about three months after, that it was told Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she [is] with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt.

Bible wants to kill love Children
Bible wants to kill adulterous population of Bible Believers. Adulterous population has substantial ratio in Bible Believers.
Revelation 2:22-23
"Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works."

If anyone thinks Biblical Jesus represents only a peaceful loving soul, then think again. For an act of adultery, Bible would kill innocent children for the adultery of others; hardly fair justice, love, or the concern for human beings.

Some apologists claim that "children" refers to the followers of a cult of Jezebel and not to children birthed from Jezebel. However, if this proved the case, the situation would appear even more horrific, for a cult of believers could number in the dozens, hundreds, thousands, or millions. The deaths of these multitude of cult believers (which would include children within its membership) would only make the moralistic problem far more atrocious.

According to Islamic source the Jesus pbuh was very much compassionate to humanity. We do not believe in corrupted and interpolated bible.

There is absolutely no reason why anyone needs to agree with any church. There is absolutely no reason why anyone cannot have sex as they please, in or out of marriage, no matter what any church says.

sex before marriage isnt to keep someone from having fun or anything, its to keep them safe. you can get diseases or pregnant...unless you want to get pregnant.
also, there are emotional and psychological side effects to it.
it isnt always a healthy choice
