For God. It's not a day for us, but a day for God. There also says in the Quran that on the Day of Judgment, people will be asked how long they were "playing" or living on the earth. People will answer many years, but for God it would be as though half of a day. You missed who it was talking about. It's not talking about people. Look at the words "Unto HIM in a Day". It's talking about God. It's not easy for us as mere humans to comprehend this, but God knows all.

The word 'yaum' means a period.

And these are referred to two different periods.

GOD created the heaven and the earth in 6 days each which is 1000 years for man. So the verse here refers to the time when GOD created the heaven and the earth. It does NOT mean that GOD was incapable of creating the Universe in less than 6 Days.

And the Day that equals to 50,000 years refers to the Day of Judgement. So the verse here refers to the Time of the Day of Judgement.

A day for any human living on the earth is 24 hours. Time for Allah is not like time for humans. I didn't find that text at surah 70:40. The second quote is at 22:47.

I wish I knew how to read Arabic better.

The word used in Quran is 'Yom'. it means period of time NOT day. There are two periods of times mention in Quran one is 1,000 years and other one is 50,000 years.

jews also celebrate yom-e-kapoor which does not mean it is one day. it is span of time. for further details

The ayah (verse) simply states that God's perception of time is different from humans'...that's the lesson you should learn from this...

Move on...
