For every athiest MD or Psychologist out there, if a man proclaims a vision of Christ and of angels, or gets visitations from what the Bible declares to be true, there is a stereotype of all mental illness being asociated with the spirit of God.
This to me is no better than shooting the messenger!
How many christians agree?

I think scientology has it correct in this one topic.

I don't agree. But then, I am not a Christian!

By the way, how come the conservative Christians don't seem to be very educated, and can't even use the spell check effectively?

Christ complex (also superiority complex) is a psychological term used loosely to describe any individual mentally fixed on superiority or the claim of being a savior. There are many types of disorders in which the Christ complex comes into play. The extreme example is a psychopath: Someone who comes to operate without any regard for other humans.

This term is used by psychologists in referring also to people who feel a compulsion to try to save other human beings. i.e. attracted to single women with children who have been abused or distressed in an attempt to "save" them from their current lifestyle.

Psychology is not anti-Christian at all. Many visions could be a sign of a psychosis, but there are other indications apart from the mere claiming of having seen a vision.
I know many Christian psychologists, and I have met non-Christian psychologists as well. (In one case a non-believing psychologist who was helping a girl in our church asked for me to be present in a couple of encounters, as her pastor. He wanted to work with me. At the time I was in my early twenties, and did not know much about psychology - not enough to even learn from him, unfortunately.
As a pastor, I have taken several courses in pschology. I would like every prospective pastor to have to take the same courses social workers have to take - at least for their first level certificate. It would greatly help them in their ministries. Because of the knowledge of practical psychology, and practical sociology.
EDIT:
And Scientology doesn't have a clue. Don't touch their stuff with a 10-foot pole!

If a Christian truly believes that they've had a vision from Christ or an angel, they have no need to consult a doctor. If they don't really know what happened and actually consulted a doctor, then they probably did so for good reason.

Jesus was not god.
We Muslims believe, that Jesus was one of the mightiest messengers of God that he was the Christ, that he was born miraculously without any male intervention (which many modern-day Christians do not believe today), that he gave life to the dead by God's permission and that he healed those born blind and the lepers by god's permission. In fact, no Muslim is a Muslim if he or she does not believe in Jesus!

A doctor should try to cure a patient. If the vision of the patient causes no harm to the patient or others, then what's the need of curing?

Well most pschologist's have a thing called logic and reason. Which helps them realize there is no such thing as the genocidal freak you call God.

You know, if they actually were throwing everyone who claimed to have visions into loony bins, you might have a point. But last I checked - they aren't.

So you'd prefer to have wacko's walking the streets unmedicated proclaiming "the end is nigh"?

Christianity as a mental illness. I agree, it is just like a mental illness.
