I'm not asking for athiests to tell me that God isn't there. I know he is. But I want to know how other people are aware of him and what they use as a weapon against doubt. I've been a Christian all my life, but I've suddenly got this new boost of faith in Him, and I want to know how to defend myself. Let me just repeat: I DON'T WANT TO HEAR ANY BULL ABOUT GOD BEING FAKE. PLEASE. Be mature, if you have nothing nice to say... don't say it at all. Thanks. :)

God, or the good-hearted atheist standing on the beach?

I bet you would trust the man more than God. Does that make him better than God?

And NO, don't try and tell me that God was working through this man when he hypothetically saved you. We have free will, remember?

When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house. And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife. [Deuteronomy 24:1-2]
&
Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery. [Luke 16:18]

God seems confused about divorce laws in the Bible.

If we photocopied pages of books by Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris and posted them in different churches. (no vandalism, just paper and scotch tape)

We can tell them that we got the idea from Martin Luther. What do you think would happen as a result???

So why do people still believe in these legends or myths. The world was going to end a hundred time before (6/06/66, Y2K, ect.)and Jesus or Muhammed will rise again. Why do people still believe these fairytales? Is it lack of self-esteem or lack of self confidence? please explain your thoughts.

Please don not post any mumbo jumbo on how you've seen Jesus, or how the Bible or Khoran is proof, because it's not! I want to see answers from a scientific or realistic point of view. Not a religious.

So Jacob went down into Egypt, and died, he, and our fathers, and were carried over into Shechem, and laid in the sepulchre. [Acts 7:15-16]

About a month ago I allowed two Elders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) into my home to share a word with me. They have been commimg back periodically and I have been going to church with them and have partially taken in their religion. As many of you may not know, the Mormon faith is merely another new testiment. Judaism uses only the old testiment, Catholicism and Christianity use the old and new testiment, and The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints uses the old and new testiment and the Book of Morman, the book of Morman is basically an addition to the bible. Now back to my question, I was speaking with my Elders moments ago on the phone and a question arose, in the bible is states that every living creature has the ability to give testimony to the existance of Jesus Christ and Elder Bohn asked me, what about the dinosaurs... in other words, every animal and every human has this ability, so how could dinosaurs possibly give testimony?

In a discussion here on R&S about a legal case in New York City in which a crèche (nativity scene) was not allowed to be included alongside menorahs, a crescent and star, and Christmas trees in a public display, it was suggested that Judaism and Islam are more than religions, that they have distinctive foods, clothing, and "cultures ingrained in years and years of devotion."

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070221165257AAabVvV&r=w

My question is, can Christianity be considered a culture in the same way that Judaism and Islam are in this context? For that matter, should Islam be considered a culture in the same way that Judaism is?

I'm just trying to think through this legal issue. I appreciate your help in steering me to the truth.

Religion is completely made up over the centuries and is not real. I dont know why our lives revolve around it when it is completely made up by man. There are no celestial beings and no one watching out for us. What do you think.
