In a Monotheistic culture, why is it I get the impression that the deity has multiple personalities? For example, in a normal reading of the bible [That is, before English translation], many words are used to refer to "God," usually describing some aspect of his supposed nature [The most commonly known is Yahweh,, or I am that I am, denoting the self sustaining, and eternal nature of the character.]. To add to this, Christians created a Trinity god, much like the Celtic The Morrigan.

In summation, is Monotheism actually Polytheism forced together into a single entity, in much the same way many would like humanity to be [All the same, but somehow different, never dissenting]

Many people have faith when it comes to religion because most of the things that religion is about is believing and not actually seeing...so then how are we certain that there is a so called God...if there happens to be a god then why do bad things happen? If people had no faith how would one prove to them that he does exists?

The religion started out with an expansionist policy. Muhammad and his descendents and other Caliphs spread Islam right after the religion's inception. Today, Most Middle East Muslim nations condemn people of other faiths.
The Quran says stuff like "Fight and slay the pagans wherever ye find them and seize them, confine them, and lie in wait for them in every place of ambush" (Surah 9:5) and lots of other violent/intolerant stuff.
Muslims go on "Jihads" to fight non-Muslims, although I think Jihad really refers to an inner, personal struggle to become Muslim.
Muslims are fighting in the name of Islam not for greed, but for their religion.
Christians have fought for the New World and spread Christianity, but the it was only spread mostly out of greed for wealth and gold, not religion.
Islam has more militants than any other religion. There are 1.4 billion Muslims. If just one percent were militants, that would mean there are 14 million of them!

Is Islam really a violent religion

I just wonder if it's possible....especially if one were brought up as a Christian....do those beliefs instilled in your thinking as a young person ever really change? Is it possible to not believe in God at all even if you once did? I'm a Christian, not at all atheist, but I've questioned God's existence and I find it impossible to not believe in Him even when I've wanted to in the past. Please post your thoughts......

because if you had been, you would almost certainly been Hindu, Buddhist or Muslim, respectively.

and since missionaries have been well-nigh ineffectual in those countries, you would have died without knowing Jesus as your personal shopper.

God punished humankind for original sin, but later changed his mind and decided to allow humans redemption through christ.

Perfection, by definition, can not be made better. If god is perfect, than all the beliefs, thoughts and actions god has ever done or made must also be perfect. Revising or reversing ones beliefs or actions demonstrates that the previous beliefs or actions were not the best they could be (ie. they were imperfect.)

So how can god be perfect if he changed his mind?

For that matter, how can a perfect being create anything that is not perfect, (ie. a fallen son) for the ability to create imperfection would required knowing what imperfection is, and how can a perfect being know imperfection and still be perfect?

He's such a nice guy he decided about 2 billion people in our generation to hell. We all know that everyone can feel certain about being right and in reality be wrong. I am an atheist. But I know I could be wrong, and that I would be damned to hell if Jesus is God. I am open to finding evidence that he is real, because I would hate to life a life inconsistent with reality. In fact, as a scientist I highly value being shown I am wrong because I will learn something.
Are you like me in the sense that you are willing to forsake your beliefs if you found evidence that would prove you wrong? Secondly, do you seek evidence outside of your religion in hopes to being proven wrong, just in case you do not have the correct view of reality? (Please Describe).
If you do not, what keeps you from doing so? This is an honest inquiry, and so please reply with existential honesty.

Of late, I've been taking a look at my Theodicy [for lack of a better word]. Essentially, it is written to not be such, but more as a defense of proper execution of the scientific method upon all faiths [As to find exactly what is found in them, as well as why not everyone is of the same variety, thusly it neither argues for existance or non-existance. for it to work, one must be impartial to learning everyone except one man or woman is living all wrong.]. After many readings of it, I've come to the conclusion that all Theists and Atheists are at fault for gross violation of the SM. Do you have any form of Theodicy, which is not slanted towards any faith, and if some who inspired your works? Mine is influenced by Lamarck and Charles Darwin.

And if you lack Theodicy, and reject it all, what is your stance of philosophy in the modern world?

Do you believe that we are saved by taking Jesus as our own, and our sins are of no consequence as long as you are sorry for them?Or do you believe we are judged on our actions and if so how do you make yourself right in God's eyes?

i have read the TOS and i find the Lega definition of offending Anyone is impossible for everyone to Follow. I think signing a waver from Suing Yahoo would fit more comfortably when someone insults a person or offends another. But censore the bible and the koran and the "words that might offend" religious people is just the wrong thing to do. What do people think about signing wavers against suing yahoo. for religious offense?

Listen I know that they have preached the last days theme since the beginning of time, but i can tell you that we are now in the last hours of christ's return.

I'm 21 years old, i was raised in a christian home and i've been tempted by the college life/drinking/sex yet i've never done any of it, i'm not saying I'm above anyone else but i've stayed true to god's word and for some reason he's put it in my heart to preach on his judgment.

I feel that our culture defines religion based on todays genration, and preaches the "balance" testimony as if we should only look at god one day of the week etc. I have this in my heart, to preach that the church if failing, and we must preach the word** of god, and that his judgment is as equal to his mercy. I feel it in my hear to preach to everyone i know, and this has only been since 3 days ago when my stomach sank, and i have been on fire for this since then, i've changed my music habits/i've wrote blogs on myspace to unchriistian/christianf rien

I'm looking for links to articles that talk about where Jesus was and what he did between the ages of 5 and 30.

If you know of any good sources that address this question, please list them (links or books or whatnot). I'm interested in non-biased, historically driven sources.

Thanks!

I mean, we all know the theoretical origins of the Europeans (from Japheth), Africans (from Ham) and Semites (from Shem). But how about the East Asians that are so distinctively different from all these three? I'm sure there has got to be some references in the Bible...
