If you mean why his life is not mortal like us, I shall answer your question. You surmised that something to the same effect might be in the Quran - it is.
Allah has reprieved Satan till the day of judgment because when he had forced Adam & Eve to sin, he begged Allah to give him leave till the day of resurrection and Allah agreed.
007-014 He said: Reprieve me till the day when they are raised
007-015 He said: Lo! thou art of those reprieved.
And later
007-018 He said: Go forth from hence, degraded, banished. As for such of them as follow thee, surely I will fill hell with all of you.
----------------------------------------------
So in Islamic belief, the fact that he will be around till the end of worldly time is Allah's form of making the Earth balanced. Man will have both opportunities to show kindness and also to be evil -the reprieve offered to Satan is therefore a test for mankind.
You can treat the above as metaphor and align it with everyday life by saying that as long as there is life, there will be evil & good both.
That is precisely Allah's decree in the Quran.
Cheers & God bless.

in Islam satan is very different than Christians.
He wasn't a fallen angel because angels have no free-will.
He was a jinn; only jinns and humans have free will.

Allah allowed him to try to disuade humans, but Allah sent his messengers to counter him.

Evil will end when the world ends and the humans plus jinns are judged on the day of judgement.

Unlike Christianity, Allah did create evil and satan is not Allah's enemy, but just another creation who went astray.

in Islam, satan was once angels (malaikah)...they were the leader of angels. and angels are one of God's creations that doesnt die till the end of day...

but they became satan because they didnt obey God's order to bow to Adam. so satan doesnt die now, he'll die later when the earth crashed to pieces.

with good, there will always be evil.

think of light representing goodness. and shadow representing evil. wherever there is light, there are shadows. Thus, if God exists, so does evil.

So therefore we must kill God to rid evil???
