Why must people think you have to be religious to be spiritual?

I am shaking my head right now...because whoever thinks that is WRONG.

I hear so many times that certain verse in the bible are not meant literally. How do you deturmine what is meant to be literal and what is not?

How can the bible be called the PERFECT word of GOD if we have this picking and choosing of what is literal and what is not! Where is the God given guide to what is meant to be literal? Was that part lost in the translation?

The secular society is there to protect you folks from each other. The fact that it protects us agnostics, atheists, new agers, heathens, wikkans, Jews, Muslims, subgenius, pagans, hindus, Buddihists, Sykhs, and any that I missed.... is just gravy.

I often hear as proof of God's existence, "just look around you. Do you think the universe was created by chance? " OK. So let's assume there was a Supreme Being who created the universe. How do you jump from that, to believing in the Bible? The Bible could have been written by a Supreme Villain at odds with the Supreme Being who created the Earth. That might explain all the contradictions, absurdities, and murderous horrors that are contained within it. It could also have been written by an ordinary man who looked around just like you did, and saw evidence of a Supreme Being -- so he made up a story, a complete fabrication, perhaps to enslave people into following him.

So assuming that a Supreme Being did create the universe: where is your proof that the Supreme Being who created the universe is the same Being who wrote the Bible? Is your evidence simply Genesis 1:1? Anyone could have written that. Even me! How about a non-biblical argument?!

I just read a question asking if Ghandi went to Hell because he did not accept Christ. A lot of the answers said yes, despite the way in which he lived his life, he will still go to hell. But there are so many parts of the world that have not been colonized; where the people still live "primitively" and have not been inrtoduced to Christianity. So, what happens to those people? Are they sent to hell anyway, or does God judge them differently? What does the Bible say? or How do YOU think they will be judged? I'm not a religious fanatic, nor am I an atheist- just curious as to what people's opinions are, or if there is a specific Bible passage that DIRECTLY addresses this issue.

If this is you, I know that feeling you have of the "missing" piece in your life. I had an alcoholic abusive father beyond belief. I know the fear you have about becoming a parent yourself and I'd like to share with you what I have learned. The secret is to give your children what we didn't get, you love them lavishly without stopping, love them with crazy love, I promise you it will be returned 1000x over. GIVE them what we so wanted, not money, your time and devotion. I had those same fears, I've raised 3 children and they walked in pure love everyday of their lives, I was never abusive 1 second in their lives. They all three are normal healthy, productive adults. The key is to give exactly where we wanted to be given, you know that place.
You know what to give, it's in you...it's the thing we never got but longed for. Never fear that you may pass this to the next generation, you can do this if YOU decide to turn this around and stop the cycle...we decide!!

do you agree??

Ok why is it that Christians(including mormons) are so open and willing to talk about sex and everything about it but secular people are hush hush about it? I'm not talking about debating on what's right and wrong though.

How can Christianity NOT be a religion based on FEAR when the words FEAR GOD are so common in the bible.

Deu 4:10, Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

Rev 15:4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord,
Here are just a few examples! There are tons of verses that say FEAR GOD!

But then there is this one.
1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

Isn't Christianity just a fear based religion? After all how many are Christians only out of FEAR of Hell?

Nobody has ever seen a new species evolve.

If humans descended from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

If Earth is so old, doesn't that mean Earth's decaying magnetic field would have been unacceptably high at one time?

Why do you call it a fact?

If evolution is true, then why are there so many gaps in the fossil record? Shouldn't there be more transitional fossils?

Didn't Darwin renounce evolution on his deathbed?

This was posted on my blog, in response to my question asking what God will have done for you by the end of the day:

"God is love and truth. Without God there is NOTHING. God has given me life, God has loved me since the beginning of time. God exists not just in my mind, but in everything I do. Without God I would not be here and without God my life would be nothing.God is in my heart and soul, God is the air that I breathe, and the blood that flows thru my veins. I KNOW for a fact that God exists, He has cvome to me many many times. You dont feel love because you do not know what love is. Without God, love does not exist. No I have never felt unloved or abandoned. God is always there, I feel His arm upon my shoulder at all times, He is always next to me. What has God given me this day? Love and abundant blessings beyond your thinking."

Your thoughts?
