Why must people think you have to be religious to be spiritual?

I am shaking my head right now...because whoever thinks that is WRONG.

* Meaning – significance of life; making sense of situations; deriving purpose.
* Values – beliefs, standards and ethics that one cherishes.
* Transcendence – experience, awareness, and appreciation of a "transcendent dimension" to life beyond self.
* Connecting – increased awareness of a connection with self, others, God/Spirit/Divinity, and nature/Nature.
* Becoming – an unfolding of life that demands reflection and experience; including a sense of who one is and how one knows.

You are correct, religion and spirituality are two different concepts. Religion is about your relationship with God and spirituality is about your relationship with your own spirit but they are not mutually exclusive.

Define "spiritual". Seriously, not trying to be a smart aleck, I really want to know what you mean by it.
