I married one. We both believe spirituality should be an individual thing and our marriage is very strong despite our different beliefs.

Honestly, I tell my sons occasionally that the most important thing to consider about the selection of a wife is to make sure she is like minded spiritually. I do this because I have seen the problems caused in marriages when a spouse wants to do spiritual things such as tithe, give time serving etc. and the unbelieving spouse stirs up tension with resistance. The bible says not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers because he wants us to have a happy life.

Alterna and Yuri, do not judge so quickly. What if you saw someone write, "Date an atheist? No way, they're all idiots!" Okay okay I wrote it, but it was part of a "what if" question.
I could not date an atheist. God is deeply a part of me, and to not be able to share that with someone would be like cauterizing (sp?) part of myself just to make it work with this person. You know, that could never work with me, I wanna share EVERYTHING with someone, and since God is always in me, always in my thoughts, how can I NOT share my theism?
Alterna and Yuri, we're not all idiots. Some of us have a high IQ, thankyouverymuch.

No, because belief in Jesus Christ is the core of my life. Why date an atheist and bring so much disagreement and drama to my life?
The most important consideration in dating a person is their heart. A believer needs someone who has a like-minded heart.

It is best to not be unequally yoked in a relationship. These are things all couples should discuss before the relationship gets too serious.

It wouldn't be exciting, it would be frustrating.
I dated a guy last summer who said he wouldn't marry a non-Christian. I asked, why are you dating one then?
You know, he never did have a good answer.

Sure.
Why not? As long as she doesn't try to ship me off to a Siberian gulag when I forget to take out the trash.
