with their thinly-veiled threats of eternal hell all covered up in a message of feigned kindness?

It's like some twisted moral blackmail thing with them. "Why won't you believe in the love of Bipolar Sky Daddy? He will send you to hell if you won't!". Yeah, that sounds loving to me.

Note that I did not say 'all christians'.

Would there be a sect of followers who condemn the hungry?

Why are there Christians who condemn sinners?

The Reformation was a time of critical thinking in the history of the Christian Church... it was a time of high thinking and dangerous living: Christians fought with one another in support of new ideas or in the defense of old ideas... in the end, Christianty was all the better and healthier for it.
But Islam? not only does it stagnate, a significant and dangerous section of it want to pull the whole world back to medieval times. Don't you think it is time for Islam to do some critical thinking? It is stupifying that it does not.

Sigmund Freud contended that humans were driven by unconscious sexual and aggressive drives and that religion was merely one of society's tools for controlling these drives. Freud also noted parallels between religious ritual and OCD and neurotic behaviors. He predicted that religion would eventually die out.

However, Carl Jung (one of Freud's early colleagues) believed that religion, along with art and literature, was one of the fundamental ways that people used archetypal symbols to contact the potential of the unconscious. While Freud had said that science would replace religion, Jung thought that the only reason why modern people need psychotherapy and other forms of science was because they had turned away from their religious roots.

What do you think?

The Holy Spirit has many different names. Some of my favorites are "Spirit of the Living God" and "Unfailing Love of Jesus". What are some of your favorite ways of referring to The Holy Spirit?

It's been said that Christians are supposed to give 10% of their earnings to the church. Here's a list of things i think you should give that 10% to before the church, tell me which of these you disagree with and why.

- The homeless
- The poor
- The hungry
- Orphans
- Africa
- Cancer research
- AIDS research

Shouldn't God provide for churches since their doing His work. i mean God gave manna to the Isrealites in the desert, if a church's faith is that strong, wouldn't God provide for them like he did for Job (that is of course before he let Satan kill his family, staff and live stock, gave him horribly painful sores)

then when he grow up, my God who was the son of himself was tortured by the people he creates and then died?

He clarified thus: What I am really interested in, is knowing whether God could have created the world in a different way; in other words, whether the requirement of logical simplicity admits a margin of freedom.

I am reading Conscience Eating by Gabriel Cousens and he uses quotes from this gospel. I realize it is not from the Holy Bible, but rather some kind of additional bible that I am not familiar with. I would like to know if any particular religion or group uses this gospel and if they are the true words of Jesus.

those who cannot do what they are told, and those who can do nothing else.

Two years ago I seriously considered converting to Catholicism. Today, I am once again. It's hard, all that memorization, and all the traditions and rites. I went to a mass once and felt like an alien. I was turned off by that alienation feeling too, felt that Catholicism only works for cradle catholics.

My friend went to an all girls Catholic school. In sixth grade, all the girls went to the Mother Superior's office and were told to take off their shirts so that the Mother Superior could judge whether they needed to wear a bra or not.
