I don't want to see Charlie die, he has such a great dynamic with Locke.

YES! :D Whoever the older lady was telling Desmond that if your time was up, the universe would find it's way to take you...She (for reason i dont know yet) wanted Desmond to think that, but i think the bigger picture will be him saving charlie over and over until charlie fulfill something, or completes something and essentialy "earns" his life. Such will be an equal appifany for Desmond with his new found ability. Locke will most likely have a large roll in both of thier paths. (Locke is my favorite character)

God has more important things to worry about than TV characters.
HOWEVER, If "Lost" was reality, God would indeed be able to help Desmond, but only if it was His will.
