This is insane:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/30/jailed.rapevictim.ap/index.html

This woman was raped and when she reported it, the police threw her in jail because she had an outstanding warrant. Then the jailer would not allow her to take a morning-after pill because it conflicted with his religious beliefs.

What gives anyone the right to impose his or her religious beliefs on someone? Especially when she might be impregnated by a rapist? I'd like to know what the believers in here think about that.

If by karma from your past life, you are abused as a child. And have a really bad life, that shapes who you are, and where you will be morally for the rest of your life. So buddhist monks and all these middle to upper class buddhists are higher in the morals department because the way they are treated. So how can a person tell themselves and go against the way a mind develops and say they will do good. Wouldnt that make you un-human. Because under certain circumstances, wouldn't we all develop the same way, whether it be an axe murderer or a priest.

I never go to church, and the clergypeople at my high school break my balls for it. I'm really starting to believe that people think that if u go to church every Sunday ur going to heaven 4 sure. If i feel like i, personally, dont need it... so why should i go? I do pray, i am a nice, unselfish kid, i'm not racist or anything like that, so why do some people think it's such a big deal???

If the Earth is 6,000 years old:

1. How can we see star light from galaxies that are billions of light years away (light traveling at 1 light year per year)?

2. If Mt. Everest was formed by any process that require 6,000 years or less, why is it not growing at a rate of 4.5 feet/year?

3. Why the continents are not drifting at a rate of 2,000 feet/year?

4. How oil and gas formed?

5. Who were Australopithicus, Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Homo Neandrathalis?

6. Why are whales and dolphins the only aquatic life to have metacarpal bones (mammilian hand bones) inside their pectoral fins?

I had prayed for a motorcyclist, who did a risky move on the highway. Prayed for God to bless the motorcyclist with extra angels & wisdom to be more safe. The Lord told me, "Yes, I heard your request & granted." Then a vision of the Lord came close and a kiss.

At that early hour I didn't realize it was Valentines day. Not until I got more Valentines (from family) later.

but you would have to NEVER speak about it to anyone. You would also never discuss your religion ever again. Would you want to know the truth???

(by knowledge of God I mean what he is like and what religion he would want you to be)

I was raised in a Christian home. I strayed once before...and lived a destructive lifestyle for a while...and I felt that God is the reason why I was able to get my life back on track. But now....I don't know...I'm not saying that God is not real...but the whole "be good and you go to heaven...or if you're bad you will go to hell" thing sounds like something to tell kids so they won't do anything wrong. Does anyone understand how I feel?

Soooooo....
I dont believe in spells or voodoo or anything like that, but one day I was watching a show and they told people how to do a "love spell" and said it really worked. I still don't believe it, but I wanted to try it, just to see if anything happened.

my question is, I'm a christian, would doing this be a sin? Even if I dont believe in it and dont expect anything to happen?

I have never experienced joy. I know what it is to not physically hunger when I eat or what it is to not feel pain when I am treated with morphine. However, my spirit has been depleted since as long as I can remember. I don't know how to smile and the few people who have lived with me say I have not smiled or laughed since I was a toddler. I don't even know what those words mean.
The only reason that I know that Joy is a good thing is that those who have joy do not inflict pain upon themselves or hope to end their lives and my instincts drive me to be anti-pain.

Is joy a lie they tell people in order to mock those who don't have it?

Is it a fable meant to give hope to real people?

...or is it real?

If it is real to you, when and how do you experience it? I need to know whom to serve.

I have seen people here say that there is no need to look into this since the bible says god made it. What do you think? I am interested in how your religion beliefs influences your answer. Atheists, I know you dont have a religion, and I assume you would say of course its not wrong, as I believe, but feel free to comment.
