Moral and Ethical values constitute the fiber of any society. But society is made up of individuals. Generally we pass judgement on others but do not analyze our actions. I think we should start with ourselves - learn to rise above the self - be able to give selfless love - behave in a manner in which we do not harm others for our gains, are sensitive to the feeling of people around us, do not resort to immoral behaviour or underhand dealings. We should be fair and impartial in whatever we do, speak the truth, never steal or covet what does not belong to us. We set an example to our children and if we behave in a moral and ethical manner our children will also imbibe good values. Suppose our children fall in the wrong company, it is our duty and responsibility to teach our children right from wrong - love has a lot of power and when our children know that we love them they also heed our advise.

If we behave impeccably and spread love around, others around us also change gradually for the better from our positive energy and example.

Apprehend erosion via the Morality Police and The Ethical Values Enforcement Officers.
Get real !
Society is corrupt! With all its decadence, self-gratification,politicians misrepresenting the people on a global scale. World-wide health care is an atrocity. Human rights are being trampled. While one misguided "C" student leads the world to virtual WW-3 ;national rebuilding projects are underfunded ; Corporate greed and influence dictates our economic viability. Let's not talk about all the cases of sexual abuse perpetrated against American children. The future--got to be eclectic--cohesive--multicultural--evolved--tolerant--strong--united!

That is quite debatable, because everyone has a different opinion and idea what moral and ethical means. It probably would not matter if you use a scale of 1 to 10, it is unlikely any country would ever be above a five (5) with every survey taken possible.

You mean like how women now have equal access to the fruits of society. Or how it is no longer legal to discriminate against minorities. Or how the judicial system no longer looks the other way when a homosexual is attacked or killed?

Is THAT what you mean when you talk about moral and ethical erosion?

What is needed--and thankfully is beginning--is a return to morality. You can see it in the rejection by America of the corrupt politicians who have falsly claimed to be representative of "moral values" while engaging in every sort o fcorruption, dishonesty, and hypocrisy. You can also see it in people refusing to be intimidated by the right-wing extremists and so-called "Christians" of the right--and who are no longer tolerating their attempts to forcce their corruption on the rest of us. Our morality has indeed been trampled--by a new McCarthyism which has about run its course--and will soon be relegated to the historical landfil where bigotry and intolerance are always disgarded.

To arrest erosion of moral and ethical values, i think u should be instilling them in all your daughters at a very young age so that when they become mothers, they will automatically be instilled in all their kids whether boy or a girl.

Life is a churning cycle. One should have self-discipline and self- control. If every one is moralistic, the world will be a much better and happier place to live.I am confident that after a dip, things will improve for the better.Human beings will get fed up of their own antics.

People are generally good.

People who are repressed lashed out. Thusly, we have a lot of "highly moral" or "formally highly moral" people who rape, abuse and brutally murder people..

So, I think, overall... After we calm down a bit, we'll be pretty find.

Go to church! Speak out against things which are wrong. Elect GOOD people to run the country...and when they forget that they are working for you, write and remind them! (My member of parliament actually responded when we wrote upset about gay marriages in Canada.)
