behind your God when you are insulting people?

We all know the fool scripture gets quoted a lot around here. I think it is a very cowardly way to insult people.

Sometimes I wonder to myself, Well what about the people who died? Was God not watching them? Isn't that kind of thinking selfish and kind of un-Christian to think that God was watching them and them only? I am not anti-Christian. This is a sincere question. It is something that bothers me. Thanks.

Or something else? Or nothing else? Not trying to stir the pot - doing research for a book. And your answers are truly appreciated. Thanks.

I read this really interesting article on Islam here:

http://www.amberpawlik.com/IslamonTrial.html

I was wondering if anyone else had read it or had any thoughts on it? It is kind of big, but I hope that is't a deterrent.

Lemme know what you think...

I've been a serious Episcopalian most of my life, and find it is a huge part of my life. I attend church every sunday, participate in events, and am an officer in my campus ministry.

My boyfriend on the other hand doesn't like to attend church with me because he is 'Catholic'. However, he never attends his church, has no qualms with pre-marital sex/birth control, isn't especially opinionated about abortion, and doesn't believe in confession. Maybe I'm stereotyping here, but I think he is more 'culturally catholic' than actually catholic. For example, his grandmother is extremely catholic, and his father (who recently passed away) was as well.

The most disturbing thing I have found about his family is that his grandmother calls those not Catholic in his family 'brainwashed'. I feel as if it is a way to please the grandparents. My main concern is that I refuse to get married in the Catholic church, and I want him to know how important my religion is to me. What should I do?

If you look this is very visible in christians. They claim to love their creator but can find a reason why every person they meet in their daily life is going to """hell"""

What I mean to say is that there is this arguing that he exist or doesn't exist. Don't people realize that "existing" or "not existing" are just labels themselves. We don't even know if God is beyond both "existing" and "not existing". I even hear ignorant fools say "that is impossible". Well it is impossible only for us. The point I am trying to say is that this arguing will get us no where. Instead, lets focus on joining hands for world peace. The "this or that" attitude is all speculation and will only cause more wars. All atheist, theist and even myself are just speculating. Humans are good at speculating while at the same time losing their focus on what is happening now.

i want to have simple verses i can use that will help me bring up good points and questions. one GREAT one that i found, and that im planning on using, which i can provide as an example, is James 4:13-17

Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow let's go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit".Whereas you don't know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. For that you ought to say, If it is of the Lords will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil. Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin

i want to use this, and other peices LIKE this, even if its just a small verse, to bring across great points that a verse can bring across. (such as vapor here today, gone tomorrow, NOT doing what you know you have been called to do, ext.)

any input would be great :

Casting your pearls before swine?

2007-02-15 13:14:01 · 20 answers · asked by Angelz 5

Could anyone explain why Lot was deemed a moral man by the two angels after he tried to sacrifice his two vergen daughters to gang rape in order to save two men he knew were angels? Here's the modern tanslation of the passage:

"Look, I have two daughters who have never slept with a man. Let me bring them out to you, and you can do what you like with them. But don't do anything to these men, for they have come under the protection of my roof."

Were his daughters not under the protection of his roof?
