I didn't do as well in grammer, so i excelled in mathmatics. I'm young at all this stuff in here anyway. I guess it was a shock to my system to see all the others who believe that their gods are true too. Truth be known, the best way the Devil has found to confuse people is to offer other ideas anyway. Luther's 95 Theses

2007-02-15 12:43:11 · 5 answers · asked by Janine C 1

Before Christ:
1. Vespatian's spittle healed a blind man.
2. Apollonius of Tyana raised a girl from death
3. Pythia , the priestess at the Oracle at Delphi prophesied, the prophecies came true.
4. Dionysus turned water into wine and Dionysus believers are filled with atay, the Spirit of God
5. Romulus, Alexander the Great, Augustus, Dionysus, and Scipio Africanus is described as the Son of God, born of a virgin.
6. The souls of Dionysus followers in the afterlife, drinking not from one particular spring in Hades, but from another cool pool—and that will give them divinity and eternal life.

Jesus is described as
the Son of God,
born of a mortal woman or virgin,
according to prophecy,
turning water into wine,
raising girls from the dead, and
healing blind men with his spittle,
and setting it up so His believers got eternal life in Heaven, and off to Hades—er, I mean Hell—for the bad folks

And could this explain why the chruch was trying to destroy Paganism?

don't understand that we are not unhappy and we don't think the same way. Like, they can not step outside themselves. I can understand and try to think like them, but they can not do the same in reverse.

The insecure herd, rambling about wild eyed and so afraid of death, that truth is happily sacrificed.

Notice how the most insecure and weak among us are the most "religious"? I use this term in its broad sense.

First, if you look at the left-wing, are they not almost entirely Christian? Does their morality not mirror the beatitudes precisley? "love your enemy", "the meek shall inheret the earth and redistrubute the wealth".

"What about the evangelicals!"

The religious-right is more into the ritualism than the religious doctrines, for which they have clever and convient rationaliztions. Ask any evangelical what the bible means with its super plain "love your enemy" and sit back to an entertaining tour of human rationalizition.

In reality, the right is more pragmatic and industrious, and thus our best alternative right now.

"Oh your a darwinist, Hitler was the same!"

Simple people. One can advocate for human progress and not come close to lunatic superiority theory

Hi, is the Angilican church the same as the Episcopalian church? Which of these churches began because of a king in England (I forgot which). Also how are both the Angilican and Episopalian churches different from Roman and Eastern Orthodox churches? Basically what are the key points of difference? I hope someone can answer this and that it is not overwhelming. Thanks for your help.

Over the last few days I have posted the two links given below which beautifully deomsnstrate common descent between man and apes. (See links below)

If you take the time to read those links, you'll see that there are certain strucutres in our genetic code whcih can only be explained through common descent (as opposed to desgn). Specifically, there is no reason for either for vestigial genes, vestigial telomeres or a vestigial centromere to be present in our genetic code if we were designed.

A few times, I have gotten the counter argument that God could have reused DNA strucutres from apes when he made adam.. This argument strikes me as odd for two reasons.

First, the fact that there is no reason for God to have made apes and humans with a busted biochemical pathway for vitamin C synthesis or to have fused two chromsomos when making humans.

Second, if the argument is that God simply used recycled DNA to create humans, how is that any different from saying we are related to apes?

Lately I have been very tempted to rejoin my old religion. However I still don't believe Christ was divine, and I'm not even sure if he was real. I figure unless someone provides me with REAL proof that Christ was real, died, came back from the dead, etc, etc, that I won't rejoin Christianity...

Is it plausible that Satan isnt real, just a way for God to portray evil?

There is really no evidence to prove the Bible is inspired by God.
Isn't it possible that people used God's power to gain control over the masses by writing this book?
Isn't it possible it's all fake? There was no Jesus, no resurrection?
This question does not address the existence of God, merely the reliability of the Bible as the true inspired word of God.

If you think this is not possible, what are your sources for believing otherwise? Please don't say faith, faith is nothing, it cannot prove anything.

Why does one piece of music make you react in a visceral way, while others bore you to tears?

Again...more then just from God please.

Many people seem to use this forum to mock and attack religion and spirituality rather to explore and understand it. Why not go to churches, temples, mosques, and synagogues to do that? Is it because they would lose their anonymity and their courage and audacity along with it? If these people like questioning religious people so much, why shouldn't they go where they can find the highest concentration of them?

Seriously, could you cope with a godless world? It's an important question because if the truth is that you couldnt, then we already have the basis for your "faith".

Would you even have "faith" if you could cope with this concept? I mean, the idea of "faith" doesnt come to us as a rational thing. I certainly dont have faith that Jihadists will suddenly stop hating my culture and civilization is I do X, Y and Z.

I dont have faith that "everything will work out". Instead, I go to work so I can make sure that my income will meet the expenses, and thus, prevent things from not working out.

Why do christians quote from it exclusively when asked a question about their faith or anything else for that matter?
If salvation is all that matters, and one doesn't need to read the bible to be saved, isn't kind of pointless to quote it?
