It's because they (Jews) don't believe in Jesus. They think of Him as a man, not God.

and to clarify something,
it wasn't the Roman soliders, nor the Jews, nor the priests that nailed Jesus on the cross.

WE SINNERS are the reason that Jesus died & rose again.

It isn't true that the Jews "went mad" over "The Passion of Christ" but there was an amount of criticism, some from Jewish groups, more from the PC merchants. This was for various reasons:
- Mel Gibson's father was a notorious Holocaust denier in the USA and Australia. This has rubbed off on the son. Remember his drunken anti-Semitic rant when arrested.
- The representation of the High Priest and the Sanhedrin was considered by some as anti-Semitic. Having seen the film myself I would say that their apparently implacable hostility to Jesus was motivated by fear that Jerusalem would explode into revolt, giving the Romans an excuse to massacre its inhabitance.
- Of course this is never stated in the film, which is based on the Gospel of St. Matthew. The Gospel itself does highlight the role of the Jewish Elders in Christ's conviction. However the Gospel was written after the Jewish Revolt of 70AD. It was important for the tiny "Jewish" Jesus Cult to differentiat itself from the rebellious Jewish mainstream. Hence the antipathy to the Hebrew establishment.

Naroy you obviously have an antisemetic thread to your questions. The film was crap. The film only gave a misguided version of events. Again I am not Jewish but if I were I would not be happy with this film either.

I am a historian and I do admire accuracy this film was 100% wrong.

I also know your Koran or is it Quoran does not advocate anywhere that the evil doers or Satan followers are Jewish. That is left open to interpretation very much like some areas of the Bible which you seem so keen to delienate for us.

There are to many fears born of ignorance, the lack of knowledge, misunderstanding and a denial of the truth.

The post above me captures some of what was really happening and our current trend towards political correctness. pwei34 I should read it thrice if I were you NAROY.

They were afraid that the film would lead to increased anti-Semitism by reinforcing the notion that the Jews killed Jesus. The real anti-Semitism would come later, in the form of a drunken, babbling Mel Gibson, who did a lot more damage with his psychotic ravings than his film ever did.

Now tell me, if you were Paul or any other Roman, and you'd just killed the person you now thought everyone should start worshipping, would you

a) 'fess up, say, yes, it was us, but we were wrong, after all it couldn't have been anyone else who killed Jesus, we were a powerful occupying army among a disorganized Hebrew population, Christ was getting on our nerves so we used a Roman method of execution to kill him, and hope that no-one would blame us when we tried to establish the ROMAN church, or

b) blame the Jews.

Was anyone asking for evidence of where the Bible lies? The cover-up job of Roman incompetence is a good bet, I'd say.

I agree with you that its a true event. And though the movie depict the event that lead to Christ death, it shows the Jews who is utimately responsible for His death. They would be angry coz it do reflect them in a bad light. and also, most Jews still don't believe that Jesus is the Messiah or God's Son, so to them, the movie is not accurate.

And why did Mel call the Jewish police officer that gave him a D.U.I a kike? An why did he say that Jews were the cause of every war in human history? I don't know, maybe because he is a huge racist PIG!

Everyone went crazy, that's what they do. The minute a religion comes up, oh this that, etc. ad nauseum.

THIS IS BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER RELIGIOUS, BUT FANATICAL. IT'S A FREAKING MOVIE FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

They probably had to fight them off at Dickens house when Christmas Carol came out. People are not religious but fanatics, remember that.

I'm sorry to see so much apparent anti-Semitism rearing its head in this thread. The Jews didn't "go crazy." They were negative about the film because they were afraid, based on prior sad experience, that it would incite some people to anti-Semitic words and actions. Maybe they were right, maybe not. There sure seems to be a lot more anti-Semitism in evidence today than in recent years, but I don't see it as coming from Christians. The same people I see bashing Christians these days seem to be the leading Jew-bashers, too, but that's just my experience.

Because he was making the Jewish people out to be a bad lot! And he did it in a false way! If someone tries to make someone look bad, they should at least have their facts straight! He could've just left the Jews to what they believe instead of accusing them!
