It is one of the important characteristics, yes.

Without compassion, we are reduced to an animal level.

It is certainly a requirement for marriage and parenthood.

attempt a diverse attitude: tell him precisely in trouble-free aspect what he did incorrect, then placed him right into a outing chair in the midst of the room. Make quite particular he can not see the television, study a e book, or do some thing else it is distracting. He needs time to judge precisely what he did incorrect and what you've suggested. get mutually: He pokes his brother in the interest because he's taking area in with a toy that the 8yo needs; you're taking him firmly and make him look on your eyes and say "you do not poke/hit/slap/etc your brother! this can be a very undesirable aspect to do!" then march his butt to his TO chair and make him sit down there for ONE minute for each 3 hundred and sixty 5 days of age (8 minutes). Repeat this for each infraction, no count number how small. he will ultimately get the idea. the reason of the TO chair quite than his room, is that he has issues to distract him in his room, and he's not any longer sitting there wondering about why he were given busted .... also telling him AFTER his punishment would not supply him any theory of why he's being punished in the first position. If the TO chair would not paintings, initiate doing away with "mutual" privileges: dessert, park/play time, video games, television time, etc. He can watch the others doing those activities, yet he can not take area. at the same time as he asks why and starts to throw a in good structure (which he will), you gently clarify that if he hadn't done the crime he does no longer be doing the time. end of tale. you want to initiate being more beneficial forceful and a lot less sympathetic; initiate being more beneficial accessible with the punishment and make it stick! it is going to paintings, given time & perserverance. What you'd be training him is proper and variety habit in route of others. Compassion is feeling badly at the same time as some thing undesirable occurs (feeling unhappy to make certain a canines useless in the line as an get mutually).

There are so many 'good' characteristics for children to pick up on. However, they pick up the ones you never want them to, by that slip of the tongue and what not, you know....

Compassion is not the most important thing though, in my opinion. I would first teach self-reliance, because I'm not going to be around forever, my mom died at 47, my sister at 35 and an aunt at 42. I'm 36, tick tock. My greatest fear is my son will have no concept of how to sustain himself in the event I pass.

I think compassion is very important. Remember the Bible says that God does not only love, but that He is Love. But we cannot teach compassion at the expense of morals. In other words, we can hate sin but have compassion on the sinner. Such as practicing homosexuals and all others currently in sin.

Maybe not the most important, but it does rank right up there. Respect, manners, and serving others are also important. The top thing, I would think is that there is greater being that loves them so much that He sacrificed his own son for them. God loves them and wants them to have a personal relationship with them.
