behind your God when you are insulting people?

We all know the fool scripture gets quoted a lot around here. I think it is a very cowardly way to insult people.

Fish, if you've ever said one true thing on this site I haven't noticed.

Angel, I haven't said a thing about feeling insulted. I don't really care what people like you have to say (in fact I normally skip right over your dreck if it isn't my question). I am simply asking if people like the fact that their holy book gives them cover to hurl insults. And as you see at least on Christian was honest enough to say that she did like it.

No, I don't call people fools. However, I do sometimes use the scriptures that say that a person can't understand the Bible unless they're guided by the Holy Spirit.
I don't insult people at all if I can help it, and if I DO insult people, I don't "hide behind God" to do so.

Since this question is going to bring out the "anyone who calls a person a fool is in danger of hell" argument, please take a moment to read Matthew 5:22 in any version except the King James. It is the only one that uses the word "fool" in that scripture.

The word "fools" in the Psalm means one who rejects an idea or knowledge. The word in Matthew is the word "racca, which is term of contempt. In the culture of Jesus, it ranked up there with the "n" word or other 4 letter names in our culture.

There is a huge different between what is said in Psalms and what is condemned in Matthew.

My mother often taught me and my sister by quoting another verse in the Bible. "He who calls his brother a fool is in danger of Hell fire."

So, Mullah, if some Christians cannot act like Jesus wants them to, then you need to become the Christian* in the conversation and "forgive them for they know not what they do".

no offense intended toward your belief, I just meant it on an ad hoc pro tem basis.

Aaaaw, poor baby. Like Christians don't get named called, worse than fool. Quite frankly I would rather be insulted by man than God.

Gods people find no joy in the suffering of man. God finds no joy in even one sheep being lost to this world.

Well, I was once a non-believer- and I do believe that I was once a fool as well, because I did not believe. Even as a believer though,I do not consider myself to be anything apart from Christ. I am just saved!!

The Bible puts everyone in the same boat:
"At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passion and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, hated and hating one another."
Titus 3:3
But seriously, are you really concerned about the opinions of those for whom you have no regard?
