In any religion it is the belief. Everything works on certain belief and Christians go to Church on Sundays. There is nothing wrong it you do not go to the worship place and it is your own wish. However the reason for Christians going to church on Sundays is -
Sunday is traditionally the first day of the Judaeo-Christian seven-day week, between Saturday and Monday, and the second day of the weekend in some cultures. It is considered a holiday in lands of Christian tradition, and is the day when most Christians attend Church.Sunday is considered holy and often a day of rest and church-attendance.
The majority of Christians have continued to observe Sunday ever since, although throughout history one sometimes finds Christian groups that continued or revived the observance of the Saturday Sabbath. More recently in history, Christians in the Seventh-day Adventist, Seventh Day Baptist, and Church of God (Seventh-Day) denominations (along with many related or similar sects), as well as many Messianic Jews, have revived the practice of gathering for worship, and abstaining from work, on the Saturday Sabbath.-

If you don't know the answer to that question, then obviously you need to go to church, if for no other reason so that you can learn more about Christianity than what little that you do!
The Book of Hebrews said that we should worship together with other Christians, not just by ourselves. Peer support helps you stay strong when you realize that you are not the only one who believes like you do, and your pastor & Sunday school teacher help you understand the Bible better (sure, you could teach yourself chemistry by simply reading the book by yourself, but it is easier to learn, and you less likely to make mistakes, if the subject is taught to you by someone who has already mastered the material and studied the background). Have you read anything on church history? How is the theology of Martin Luther different from Saint Augustine’s, and whose ideas are more persuasive?
You also go to church so that your presence can encourage other Christians, and to offer your time and effort to people who need your help and support (if you don't go to church, how do you know who is sick this week, so you can go and visit them?). Do you volunteer at the homeless shelter run by your church? Do you even know where it is? It is a sin of omission if you never do any charity, and you never donate any money to charity.

Hebrews 10:25
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Well if you are Catholic you have to go to Church on Sundays and other days called Holy Days of Obligation or you goto Hell if you die and haven't confessed them.
Other sects feel its important to go to learn about God and how to be like Him. According to many Christian sects as long as one is saved one is going to Heaven, but fellowship with the Christian community can bring one closer to God and allow one a better understanding of what God's plan is for that individual.
Then there are some people who feel that fellowship can be a waste of time, a source of misinformation, and a place where temptation can happen due to many sects allowing gender mixing at such activities.
If you are a Christian then I'd advise you to pray about the issue and see if God/ Holy Spirit/ Jesus tells you that you should be involved with a Church. Many individuals feel that fasting and prayer can lead to a more clear answer then prayer alone. If you choose to do a fast (and there are many kinds... I'd personally recommend something like not eating food during daylight hours (or during night time hours) but continuing to drink fluids including fruit juices the whole day) you should consult your doctor first.

The fact that you use the terminology "break my balls for it" tells me that you need more contact with people of faith. If you died tonight, would you go to heaven? If you don't know, then I think you need to go to church and find out how you can know without a doubt.
Church is spiriatual food. It's are way to energize and reconnect with God every week. You have to keep in touch with those that believe. You have to study to learn what God wants from you. Church is an integral part of being a Christian. If you aren't going to church then I seriously doubt you are feeding yourself the right food. You can't live like the rest of the heathens in the world and be right with God. You can't know how to live if you aren't trying to find out. You can't find out if you aren't connecting with those that know or reading His Word.
Who cares if you are unselfish, not a racist, or nice. Who cares if you pray. Invision yourself standing before God.....what do you tell him about yourself, what excuses do you make to the Being that created you? Do you see how lame all of that sounds?

If you don't stand for something, then you will fall for anything.Mother Teresa, was asked to describe the entire Bible in 25 words or less. She said:"I can do it in three,"TRUST AND OBEY".God is a jealous God,he wants to see our willingness to do what has been written. The church is the people, not the building and if you are not a part of "the church" then you are excluded from all the benefits that God has promised us.If I go to church on Sunday, then I have a great week,if I don't I have a less than great week.I have noticed this all my life.God wants me there, that is why I need to go.He also wants me to tithe 10% of my income.Just a little bit of effort on our part pays off great dividends in eternity.Peace and God Bless You!!

I don't go . Because my work schedule is 4 on 2 off, it isn't set on like Saturday or Sunday. I think it says, in the Bible, or I was told it says it is important to study the Bible. That is what church is suppose to be. Studying scripture. Just read it when you have time and look into the meaning.

I'm Christian, and I don't go to church every week. Right now I'm in college, and although there's tons of different churches and church groups meeting all week, I just haven't found one...Partly I just haven't been that motivated to find a group, partly there aren't any I really feel I fit in with. Although it is important to a certain extent, if you don't go every week, it's not the end of the world. If you still follow God, and truly believe, not going to church is not going to be a big deal.

Sounds like "I" will decide what A Pretty picture ,Passive Believer,
Doesn"t call for any Comitment.
This is what the Lord says ,speaking thru Paul.,Forsake not the Assyembling together as some do,and so much the more as you see that Day approaching.Do you know what a Wolf does to a lamb by itself ,The Wolf will rip him apart.

Well, there is a study (it will take me some time to find it...I heard it like in 1997) that talked about regular church-goers who live significantly longer.
What are your beliefs? Which church is right for you? If any?
I personally believe that religion is supposed to make you happy and a better person. Also, humans are social animals (despite my husband's decry to the contrary) and we tend to want to have as many people as possible doing the same thing as we are doing.
Some people want to see you happy. Others want to have the numbers inside the doors. Don't join a religion unless it makes you feel happy, and like you are a better person.

Going to or not going to church doesn't determine whether or not you're a Christian. It's your faith that's important. But going to church is a GREAT thing. You learn more from God's word, fellowship with other Christians, and worship the Lord. I really recommend it---it's for your own good!
