isn't it more sad that He loved us enough that He gave us a perfectly good way out of Hell, and people are too self-righteous to understand that, so they ask questions like this. isn't it more sad that people ignore God's love for humankind and the fact that it came first?
oh, and it's sad that you think it's threatening, not warning.
oh, and it's sad that you'll dismiss this answer for no other reason than your own pride and pressupositions.

God does not threaten us with hell...God wants to reward us with eternity in Heaven. People choose Heaven or Hell.
Do your parents ground you, discipline you, or punish you, so you will love them more? No. They do these things because they love you and want whats best for you. If your Mother tells you not to touch the Hot Burner on the stove, or else you will get severely burned, is she telling you this so you will love her? Or is she telling you about the consequences of touching the Hot stove because she wants to protect you from being burned?
If a construction worker is flagging you to stop, because the bridge ahead is out. Is he doing this so you will love him? Or is he warning you because he knows that if you continue, you will be hurt or possibly killed?
Such it is with God. He knows the end result of rejecting Him and living a life of sin. He loves us all. His will is that not one of us should perish.
Accept His love and forgiveness and spend eternity with Him.
Or reject His love and forgiveness and continue living in sin and suffer the consequences. It is a decision that each and everyone of us has to make.
God Bless You....Peace.

No, what is sad is how may people believe that God would do such a thing. Find out the truth for yourself. A lie that has been repeated enough times will be presented as the truth.

No what is sad is that God warns us of hell and people think it's a threat. God gave us free will so we could "choose" to love him. That means he wouldn't try to do anything to "Make" us love him.

Your question is akin to "Do you still beat your wife?" It assumes something false and expects someone to treat it as an intelligent question worth answering---when it is neither.
In 1000 years whatever knowledge you take pride in today will seem as joke to that generation, yet you presume to be smarter than God.
Amazing!

Hell was made for the devil & his angels. The devil just tricks people to hate God.
Jesus warned us of hell. It is God's will that all should come to repentence, and that none should perish & all would have everlasting life.

ALL THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR JESUS IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME
1Cor.15:22-28,51-53; As in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. Heb.9:27; It is appointed unto man once to die, after that the judgement. 2Cor.5:10;
Hell is sepulchre, tomb, cave, grave, burial place.
Acts 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. 28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance. 29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day. 30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; 31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
