Why stop at protesting gay marriage? We call upon all Christians to join the crusade against Long John Silver's and Red Lobster. Yea, even Popeye's shall be cleansed! *Chuckle*
Leviticus 11:9-12 says:
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
Deuteronomy 14:9-10 says:
9 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:
10 And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

Matthew 19:17-78 states:
Now someone approached him and said, "Teacher, what good must I do to gain eternal life?"
He answered him, "Why do you ask me about the good? There is only One who is good. If you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments."
For Christians, Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses.
Christians are not held to the ceremonial parts of the Mosaic Law concerning of dietary purity and temple worship.
Christians are held to the moral law of God, some of which is expressed in the Ten Commandments.
However Jesus took the Ten Commandments to the next step summarizing them into the two Great Commandments:
+ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
+ You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
And teaching things like
+ Everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
+ Everyone is our neighbor including our enemies.
Therefore we have to go much farther than the original recipients of the Ten Commandments ever dreamed.
With love in Christ.

I shall regard my wife with new knowledge from now on. She eats shrimp nearly every day as part of a weight loss program. Now that I know she is an abomination and unclean I shall treat her with new respect.

There are differences between guidelines basically because it is with any authorities. we've civil guidelines, statutory, state, city, and federal guidelines. we ought to apply an similar undemanding experience at the same time as it is composed of God's guidelines to boot. you are able to not take state guidelines and practice them to any state you want. you are able to not take city guidelines and attempt to emphasize each and every city to adhere to them. Nor are you able to take guidelines from yet another u . s . and attempt to emphasize them on others. that is what's happening the following. you're confusing 2 seperate guidelines: civil and ceremonial. The civil regulation is that it is hostile to homosexuality. this does no longer make it alright to hate homosexuals besides the undeniable fact that it is to discourage this variety of habit. The regulation about ingesting shrimp and swine are ceremonial (or nutritional) guidelines. those guidelines were no longer given to the completed international yet to the country of Israel. So, the question is not any matter if the guy asking the question and the persons answering the question are Israelites living lower than the regulation of God in the middle East? when you're not any further, then do not difficulty about it. in the e book of ACTS God gave Peter (a Jewish Christian) a innovative and prescient of many ceremonially unclean animals and informed Peter to bypass ahead and eat yet Peter grow to be reluctant and then God suggested no longer to call unclean the flaws he has suggested as sparkling. in the direct context God grow to be talking about ethincity and spirituality yet we may be able to learn a lesson the following: there grow to be no longer some thing incorrect with the guidelines at the same time as they were given and there is not any longer some thing incorrect with them now yet they utilized to a particular people for a particular time in a particular land lower than particular guidelines. an similar guidelines do no longer practice now to us.

Nice try.Homosexuality is forbidden in the New Testament as well, whereas the commandment against eating unclean foods is repealed.
Romans 1:26-27 -"For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error."
1 Timothy 1:9-10 "realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers"
Unclean food law repealed: Acts 10:9-15"About noon the following day as they were on their journey and approaching the city, Peter went up on the roof to pray.He became hungry and wanted something to eat, and while the meal was being prepared, he fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. It contained all kinds of four-footed animals, as well as reptiles of the earth and birds of the air. Then a voice told him, "Get up, Peter. Kill and eat."
"Surely not, Lord!" Peter replied. "I have never eaten anything impure or unclean."
The voice spoke to him a second time, "Do not call anything impure that God has made clean."
Edit:Christians don't 'pick and choose'.I wish that some people would make an effort to understand, instead of thinking that we do so.We have reasons for our beliefs, and what rules we go by.Some people obviously don't understand, that's for sure.
