Soooooo....
I dont believe in spells or voodoo or anything like that, but one day I was watching a show and they told people how to do a "love spell" and said it really worked. I still don't believe it, but I wanted to try it, just to see if anything happened.
my question is, I'm a christian, would doing this be a sin? Even if I dont believe in it and dont expect anything to happen?

it wasnt one to make someone I like , love me back, it was one that was suppose to "put you in the right situation to meet your true love". Like I said, I dont believe in that stuff, I was just wondering if doing it was a sin or not.

There are always conscequences about going to other spiritual powers rather than going to God. It is called hating God, and the iniquities are passed on to the 3rd & 4th generations of those who hate God. Exodus 20.
The devil is just tempting you. If you have a crush on someone, instead just pray to God about so & so, in spirit & truth. God might know that this is the person for you. And also God might know that this isn't the person for you, that so & so might cause you much hurt.
Yes it is a sin, and God disciplines His children.

Yes it is a sin. A minor one, but a sin never the less. You are basically saying that you think that magick can take the place of God. Even if that is not what you are thinking, it has the same effect. And saying you don't believe in it doesn't fool me or God either. You would not want to try it unless you at some level thought it might actually work. Just ask God to do the same for you instead.

As a Shintoist and friend to many Wiccans & Pagans, I can tell you this:
The so-called "spell" is pure fluff.
Even Wiccans (real ones, not the wannabes who watch "The Craft" religiously) will tell you that their 'spells' and rituals are just a form of prayer and ritual meditation. Mostly, they focus on self-motivation to get things done, or offer a prayer in the hopes that their higher power of choice will answer.
Each 'spell,' ritual, prayer or fire-dance is unique to the person in question, so claiming that one formula 'really works' is laughable.
I'd say, if you're Christian, don't use the trappings of another religion - especially false ones performed by a fraud - as a replacement for your prayer or meditation.
Do what feels right for you. And no, technically it's not a sin - unless it involves worshipping another entity in the process, which your God frowns upon. Same goes for breaking the Commandments.

The Bible forbids us to meddle or dabble in witchcraft - that includes the casting of spells. It matters not whether you beleive a spell will work or not, what matters is that you obey God's command to us never to mess with such things. God has very good reasons for forbidding the practice of these things. For one, it opens the door to the demonic.
But don' fret - God knows your heart. Just don't be tempted to do it again.

Both the Old and New Testaments say that practicing magic is a sin.
Revelation 21:8; 22:15.

Personally, I don't thinK you should try it. It's good you're asking cause I had a similar question awhile ago. My parents told me it might not seem bad, but it's not hard to get addicted to something like that. You might try it once and not be able to stop. Satan might use it to steer you away from God. I hope this helps, but remember to PRAY and maybe ask your parents or a pastor.

IMHO even if you're not a Christian, doing a spell on someone else to make them do your bidding is about as close to a "sin" as I believe exists.
It's simply wrong.
Edited to add: If it's something directed at yourself to make yourself open to attract the kind of love that is right for you (without targeting a specific person), then from my Pagan point of view it's not wrong. Dunno what your Christian perspectives will be (though I suspect they will be very negative). Thank you for clarifying!

That is extremely forbidden according to God........mysticism, sorcery, witchcraft, divination are all abominations against the Lord your God!... That is called sinning-- LAWLESSNESS....If you participate in any way shape or form you are breaking one of God's Laws and there WILL be and automatic penalty to pay for it. This is a fact!

Besides the scriptures below...you don't want to open a door to that stuff in your life. Don't mess with it at all.
Deut 18:10
"There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer”
Deut 18:14
"For those nations, which you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice witchcraft and to diviners, but as for you, the LORD your God has not allowed you to do so.”
2 Kings 17:17
“Then they made their sons and their daughters pass through the fire, and practiced divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him.
2 Kings 21:6
“He made his son pass through the fire, practiced witchcraft and used divination, and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD provoking Him to anger.
2 Chron 33:6
“He made his sons pass through the fire in the valley of Ben-hinnom; and he practiced witchcraft, used divination, practiced sorcery and dealt with mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking Him to anger.

Spells aren't really to be taken lightly. They're really "extended, serious prayers".
It's up to you, but sorcery and witchcraft aren't really highly looked upon in the Bible (as in, you should kill people who do).
