Yeah I believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God (i'm Catholic). The Old Testament came from the Jews, but the New Testament was put together after Jesus left earth. Since there were alot of other 'religious' books running around, how do you know for sure that all the books in the New Testament are the word of God? On who's authority do you accept the books in the BIble? I know but i'm just wondering if you all do.

No offense, but the Bible is not exactly a good source for questions like that, considering it was obviously put together by mortals.

It is such a trivial question that everyone ask and yes there is evidence, read job 40:15 is mentioned a behemoth, vs 17 goes on to describe his tail as a cedar tree. That is a dinosaur, there is also mention of leviathan in the bible probably another dinosaur, the fact is that job is actually the oldest written book of the bible. Now let me explain this also, the bible is not a book of dinosaurs and is a book written to man about god and man and how they have been throughout the ages. The theme of the bible is sinful man and a savior that came and that was Jesus Christ who we need today friends. Every author writes a book with a subject and purpose in mind. Why arent there a million other things listed in the bible, well quite frankly the book would be so big the whole world couldnt contain it. What do you think.

I think yes. I don't see the point in imagining God creating everything one by one rather than setting the universal rules that will result in the creation of all.

Sure this sounds like a simple question, but it is directed to those of us who are single and eat dinner alone.

Many families say the blessing, but does anyone say it when they are alone? If you say a blessing, do you say it out loud or just in your head?

I didn't say a blessing because I don't believe in a telepathic God, but that's just me. I'm still interested in what others are doing!

What if God is like water and human beings are like oil. They can be right next to each other, but cannot interact because they are so fundamentally different.

On a chemical level, oil and water don't mix because of the chemical properties of each - when you mix the two, the water molecules only attract other water molecules and "push away" oil molecules.

So if God is like water, and mankind is like oil, what if Jesus is like DETERGENT?

Detergent molecules have one end that is like water, and one end that is like oil. In short, detergent makes it possible for oil to dissolve in water, because it BRIDGES the two natures.

What if God is holy (water-like) and cannot interact with us because the sin of mankind made us different (oil-like).

When you add Jesus, because he is human like man and is holy like God, he can be a BRIDGE for us. Like detergent allows hot water to clean grease from a pot, Jesus allows God to clean sin from man.

God wants us to be nice to people, right?

Commandment six- Thou shalt not murder.

This goes against many conservative opinions.

1. Supporting the war. Or does this commandment only apply to white people? Just because the Iraqis have WMD? Are we the only ones allowed to own it?

2. Supporting the death penalty. It doesn't say, "Thou shalt not murder except it the case of criminals." It just says, "Thou shalt not murder."

3. Against welfare. By not providing money for these people. you may kill them. I thought God wanted us to be generous and kind?

4. Against gun control. Right, guns don't kill, people do. Could the people really kill without a gun?

So how are we liberals the Godless ones?

If gawd put so-called "fossil" fuels (I don't know where creationists think they came from) here for us to use, he must have known we would burn them and send the planet out of equilibrium. Is this the first part of the rapture? Does Bush say, "I don't care, armageddon' outta here!"?

Or, do you think there was a period of plant dominance about 400 million years ago which was responsible for sequestering CO2, and our re-release of this carbon to the atmosphere is short-sighted bad management?

Before you try to tell me that burning fossil fuels hasn't been shown to cause warming, read the IPCC report, or look at this:
