What if God is like water and human beings are like oil. They can be right next to each other, but cannot interact because they are so fundamentally different.

On a chemical level, oil and water don't mix because of the chemical properties of each - when you mix the two, the water molecules only attract other water molecules and "push away" oil molecules.

So if God is like water, and mankind is like oil, what if Jesus is like DETERGENT?

Detergent molecules have one end that is like water, and one end that is like oil. In short, detergent makes it possible for oil to dissolve in water, because it BRIDGES the two natures.

What if God is holy (water-like) and cannot interact with us because the sin of mankind made us different (oil-like).

When you add Jesus, because he is human like man and is holy like God, he can be a BRIDGE for us. Like detergent allows hot water to clean grease from a pot, Jesus allows God to clean sin from man.

I don't believe in Jesus, but hypothetically, I think its a great metaphor. Its interesting because some people dont use (believe) in detergent just like me with Jesus.

Nice, a few minor differences in opinion on the actual human God interaction without the messiah, but that would make the metaphor too confusing.

May i put this one for you:

God, man, and the world are one machine, God is the engine, and humans are parts in this machine. In the Garden humans were perfect like a brand new cog. then we get sin, and now some teeth have been broken off, others worn off, and in some cases all of the teeth are gone. because of this, creation isn't working like it should. To repair the cogs God makes new stronger teeth for the damages cogs, but he allows them to choose whether or not they want to be fixed. Those "fixed"
cogs will try to engage with all the cogs around them, regardless of whether the cogs around them are fixed, or even want to be fixed, which wears and digs into the unfixed cogs, trying to fix them even on a subconscious level.

as you can can probably tell
Man=cog
Messiah= repairs
Sin=damage
God=driving force
World=final function

is that too confusing/complex to be a good metaphor

Yeah, that's good, except in the Old Testament God interacted with us before Jesus came...don't know how that's going to fit in there, but it's really good besides that. Maybe it could be God's mercy is like detergent, or something.

Hell is like a washing machine, all your sins will be washed away after you are punished for them.

In your metaphor, Jesus would show the other water molecules that are at the bottom that God does exist.

I am Muslim, we respect all the Prophets of God.

Peace Be With You

I don't know about the analogy...I don't think it is right to say God cannot interact with humans. He is God and can do what He wants. Also, God and Jesus are One.

It was the truine God talking. The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Jesus was not created. He is GOD. Equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

What if god was like bleach, and jesus were like ammonia, when they are both preached together, do they become like mustard gas?

Wow. This is proof that the minds of religious people are waaaaaaaaaaaay too complicated.

I think this is proof that common sense and religion can't mix very well.
