When somebody asks a religion question, I see several negative comments. Couldn't those people just not answer that question?

People get really defensive when somebody asks a religion question here. Why do they get offended by a God they don't believe in anyways? And if it's a religious question, can't those people just not click on the question to answer?

how do we work together to promote rational thought in an effort to prevent the world from being blown apart by religious zealots?

I'm really serious! When I think of what a nuclear bomb in the hands of a religious zealot means, it scares the hell out of me (literally!).

There are so many spiritual Gurus. Each heading his own organisation. But they all ultimately agree that God is one and their message is love. Why dont they work as one to spread this message and work for the welfare of humanity. There is only one energy that vibrates at various levels. How can you really say that you're trying your best to be good when you have nothing to fear, when you have only one chance in this life?

Isn't it a logical idea that a person who is given only one opportunity in life would make the most of it - morals or not? That he would do his best to be as successful as he can be in this life - even if it means stepping on other people?

I'm not here to judge you or go against you. I'm just really curious. I mean no offense.

Ok this is a weird question for me to ask but im 19 years old and a mormon i believe in my church and everything. But i just recently found out our church was against masturbation i had no idea that we were anyways. Im a virgin i don't watch porn and i don't plan on getting married until probably my late 20's so is this really that bad?
