People get really defensive when somebody asks a religion question here. Why do they get offended by a God they don't believe in anyways? And if it's a religious question, can't those people just not click on the question to answer?

Well the Reverend definitely gave the best answer, but for myself I do not fear God at all. I just don't buy what some Fundies are selling, that's all. Who are they to have a corner on the God market? I was taught God was love, why on Earth would I fear Him. I never did understand that whole "God Fearing" nonsense, always seemed to me to be a bit self defeating. If you fear your parent, you can never truly be open with them because of the fear. It makes for a poisonous relationship.

P.S. doesn't arri say the nicest things.

I don't believe it's that they get scared, they don't want to have the knowledge of God in their life. They like their sins too much, and to them, to acknowledge God, means that something will be required of them... they KNOW what the deal is, they just hide behind whatever they can. It comes out as hostility.
God, writing by the hand of Paul, told us the deal in Romans. The first few chapters answer better than I ever could.

God knows our deepest darkest secrets, secrets of the heart (soul). Darkness does not like the light because it reveals their darkness.

It's a fear of displeasing their God, like a child having fear of displeasing their father. They know the father loves them, so it's a reverential fear.

I don't know, I'm not scared of God.
