When somebody asks a religion question, I see several negative comments. Couldn't those people just not answer that question?

When I say negative comments, I refer to the non-constructive kind like "another religion question, you people are so stupid." This comment doesn't explain why. So it does nothing to support a point.

I appreciate these answers. This is how answers should be. Not childish bashing and silliness. Answers that are supported with thought, like these, are read. Ones that are insulting or rude are cause an asker to skip some others when there may be valid points to them.

There should be a child's Y!A. Then those people could go there. Agreed?

I am agnostic, and therefore a non-believer (tending more towards atheism than faith), and I agree with you. Insulting comments made simply for the sake of being negative get no one anywhere. They neither further the cause of the person making the comment, nor influence what the asker thinks. Pointless.
We *all* need to put our emotions aside and answer, and ask, questions for the sake of furthering knowledge and discussion, rather than mudslinging for the sake of a little childish gratification.

I really do understand what you mean.part of that understanding comes from taking the time to read the whole question.and then if the question is something i don't have an answer to, i don't answer. But say I ask a general question like / Explain the meaning of JN.3/16? and 1/2 of the comments are things like God sucks! or a 4 paragraph raving of why Christians are stupid! It,s a matter of hate and intolerance ,you know ,that stuff they are quick to pin on us .but when they do it .It,s in the name of rationality.I guess all we can really do is sift through the chaff.and hope that someone is playing fair.

Its a shock to find out you have been deceived into believing in mythology since childhood. So many people feel betrayed and angry because they found out Biblical god was all a hoax, a lie. Meanwhile the deceivers carry on spreading their mythology to other people. The parents, relatives, school system, society betrayed you the whole time, of course most people would rather not face this

I don't think people are offended by the god as much as by the people.

Christians have a large constituent of voters in the united states that help influence laws and elections. The problem with this is that they are mostly severly conservative and people who are not bible beaters become enraged with the fact that someone with the belief system equivalent to that of an 8 year old is dictating how they live their life.

Why shouldn't we? I find the religious answer to be more negative. While you might consider my answers negative, I actually consider them to be helpful and constructive. And it is not God that offends me. God doesn't exist. The people who believe that superstitious nonsense, though, do a lot of harm in this world, so I do address their questions. They're the ones asking the questions that I'm answering, not God.

I think it is useful to see both sides of an issue, not just one.

I have nothing against an imaginary God. The problem I have is with His followers. Last I checked, they they have taken to blowing themselves up on buses and in marketplaces.

I think as a parent, I have a right and an obligation to be concerned.

They feel that they are trying to help correct an error in thinking exactly like the people who say that their religion is the only correct way to God do.

It is the same process only reversed.

Love and blessings Don

Most people are not offended by your God, their offended by the superiority complex of your God's followers.

There are many gods i don't particulary like, especially the ones that try and enslave me, i don;t have time for those gods.

If you don't believe in something, you'll fall for anything. The atheists that keep making negative comments are searching for answers and hopefully will find them. See how they all give believers thumbs down?

Deep down they know God exists....they are the ones the Bible calls God-haters. They don't want to have anything to do with God and choose to live their lives separate from Him. What they don't realize that in so choosing, they're also choosing eternity separate from Him.
