In December, DefCon launched a massive public awareness campaign, aimed at exposing the intolerant and violent religious right video game, Left Behind: Eternal Forces.
With your help, along with the 30,000 Americans who joined our campaign urging Wal-Mart to reconsider selling the game, we brought major national attention to the real agenda of the religious right.
From ABC World News Tonight, to CNN’s American Morning, to DefCon co-director Clark Stevens’ debate with religious right leader Jay Sekulow on CNBC, DefCon was able to expose both the dangerous message of this game and the religious right’s nefarious strategy to use this product to push its ideology on America’s children.
We are pleased to report that our campaign broke through. Media reports have revealed that the game’s poor performance has led the manufacturer, Left Behind Games Inc, to attempt to peddle the game at mom & pop stores in their local southern California region. More significantly, the stock price of Left Behind Games Inc has plummeted over 80 percent since the game’s November launch.
Thank you to everyone who helped spread the word about the violent, extremist message of this game. This is quite an accomplishment, and again reveals the ever mounting opposition to the religious right’s dangerous agenda.
