The bible says even the demons believe and tremble (James 2:18-26). Atheists are the only ones that have to prove something. God has already proved it all. We're standing on His proof; we're breathing His proof. What proof do atheists have?
Listen, I write this out of love........no matter what has happened to cause you not to want Jesus Christ in your life (i.e. life situations), remember that He loves you. I pray that God will open your eyes and give you your own Road to Damascus experience (Acts 9). Love you and don't forget to answer the question.

Is it that atheists do really believe there is a God but, do not believe in God?

That's sounds closer to agnosticism.

Actually, theists are the only ones that have something to prove. Atheists have nothing to prove, because you can't prove that something doesn't exist, and since it is theists that assert that god exists, it falls to them to prove it.

We stand on the earth, and we breath air, but there is no evidence that these things were manufactured by a supreme being like the god that you describe. This is another assertion being made by theists, and this also falls to theists to provide the evidence.

You claim to be writing out of love, so maybe you'll take what I say to heart. The only life experience that caused me to not want Jesus in my life is the lack of evidence that he ever existed, let alone that he was the son of a god that also leaves no evidence of it's existence.

In the goal of mutual understanding, put yourself in my position for a moment. People are trying to convince me to worship this vagely defined entity that lives in another dimension, where our ghosts can go and live with him after we're dead, and he had a kid with a human, and the kid died, then rose from the dead, then floated off into the sky. The entitly supposedly created us and loves us, but has no compunctions about throwing our ghosts into a fiery pit forever if we disagree with him. Even you have to admit that story sounds a bit far-fetched when you say it out loud. Then, you realise that an alarming number of people take this story so seriously, they start to base their lives around it, just like trekkies. At least trekkies get cool pointy rubber ears.

If there were a god, and he was all-knowing and all powerful as you claim, then he would know exactly what would be required to "open my eyes" to his existence, and he could provide that to me directly, so that I could start believing in him right away.

Somehow, I don't foresee that happening anytime soon.

You presuppose the conclusion. Doesn't work like that. Us being alive is not proof that God exists, so give up the thinly veiled attempt at making others believe it. Secondly, I have written at least a dozen times, but I will repeat it..

YOU CAN NOT PROVE THE NON-EXISTENCE OF SOMETHING. This is called a logical fallacy. Check it out.

Atheists don't have to prove anything. You see they aren't claiming anything affirmative. Affirmative claims must be proven; thus, the claim that there is a God must be proven. It's not a two way street.

P.S. Don't worry about praying for me; doesn't work anyway and you might as well catch a few extra minutes of David Letterman.

No, I really believe there is no God.

"We're standing on His proof; we're breathing His proof. What proof do atheists have"

Funny, I was going to mention the same thing and offer it as proof. Of course, my kind of proof comes with a library of scientific and coherent evidence. How about yours? Oh, the bible. Uh huh.

Sorry dumbass, but your religion is wrong, and your beliefs are false.

I don't believe in god. There is no hidden belief anywhere in my body, no more then you have a hidden belief that Zeus is real.

The air, earth, and life are only proof of nature, not god. And the creation of each already have scientific explanations.

I don't have to prove sh*t to you or anyone else about god not existing.

And your final statement sums up our differences perfectly. You try to answer questions, I question the answers.

Mike:
That is the problem with theists, you think the utter crap that comes pouring out of your mouths is considered "logic" and "reason". I have taken four semesters of logic and rhetorical debate during college. Idiots like you would have failed out on the first.

So let me get this straight...

Your bible, the one that says gays are an abomination, to stone your mouthy teenage son to death, to kill all who work on Sunday, that supports slavery, and suggests that a man fit over 10 million species into a boat for an undetermined length of time also says that atheists believe in God?

Interpretation is the noun form of the verb interpret, which means "to bring out the meaning, clarify and make explicit. This usually involves judgment and evaluation." Basically, all you are doing is making a concrete statement about your bible passage based on nothing more than your personal opinion, not fact.

Trying to covert an Atheist using reason or logic will never work. They believe they are “free thinking” and “open minded” but in fact are just the exact opposite. They don’t want to believe in God because then there would be certain moral requirements of them. In truth, they would refuse to follow even if God came like some kind of magic genie and “proved” the obvious. The Bible if full of examples of mankind rebelling against God even while He was revealing Himself to them. No kind of proof will change their hearts and really that is the heart of the problem.

What we are standing on is the planet earth, what we are breathing is air. You claim this to be proof of the existence of God with nothing more than a few bible verses? Do you even know what the word "proof" means?

Believe but not believe...well there is a confused mind, yours I mean.

No, I believe there are NO gods and no such thing. And those that make claims of invisible things, are the ones who have the job of proving it.

Maybe you should take on the job of disproving my little sister's imaginary friend. I mean, you know it's real, you just don't believe in it, it's your job to prove it's not real.

Nothing happened that caused me to not want your Jesus, my family are not Christians and I will ask you kindly to have respect for OUR beliefs.

That's foolish. How can you know something to exist, but not believe in it? Atheists do not believe there is a God.
