Satan is not bad, he's merely doing the job God gave him ... tempting souls with their passions and desires. Satan doesn't make a *MOVE* without God's consent. Satan's function is to screen all souls to make certain they have transcended all passions and desires and are truly ready to return home. If they continually succumb to their passions and desires, they get to keep coming back to the physical plane until they get it right. Eventually they get tired of getting knocked around on the physical plane and start looking for a higher purpose. Once that happens, Satan loses his "power" over them and they never look back until they arrive "home" again. Satan really isn't so bad, he's just portrayed that way by religion.

God = good. Satan = bad. These aren't 'people' really, but 'forces' ... Satan 'tempts toward' the bad, while God 'guides toward' the good. The 'person' in the middle has 'free will' ... the 'right and ability' to make choices, some good, some bad ... and it's not 'one small thing' that a person does that will send him to Hell any more than one small thing will send him to Heaven ... it's the 'adding up on both sides of the account' and if you are deemed 'evil' then you go to Hell, but if you are deemed 'good' you go to Heaven ... and so it is that the 'person' is either 'rewarded' or 'punished' according to 'everything we know on earth' ... but exactly what and 'where' Heaven or Hell are is something we won't ever 'know' until we 'get there' ... after we die. Meanwhile, it is totally up to you whether you choose to follow 'Satan's path' or 'God's path ... but remember that even at the last breath you take, Jesus 'died on the cross for your sins' and by truly believing in HIM, you can guarantee that you'll get to Heaven 'in the end ... and whether or not there is a 'purgatory' is another whole discussion.

I found this lovely paragraph about Satan.. I'm assuming you're thinking of Lucifer, maybe?
"Satan Was Really a Saintly Indian King. ... Satana was in reality a Gujarati city-state that lost a war to the Seunas. The city's name was probably derived from that of Satan-ikas (Satan of Kasi?), a pious Jaina king and founder of a small Jaina sect. Some years after the death of Mahavira, Satan-ikas began expounding his own version of Jainism.
"He succeeded in getting only 11 converts. They distinguished themselves from other Jainists by wearing blood-red robes and occasionally bull-horn headresses. Because the sect was (and still is) so very small, it was probably rejected by Jainists as demoniacal and heretical. In those days, the different Indian sects often fought one another, as, indeed, their non-Indian descendants do even today. Over the centuries, this saint and his red clothing evolved to the red-colored monster that the TV preachers use to scare fanatical Christian fundamentalists and convince them to unload their bank accounts and wallets.
The following are the "evil" teachings that this "Satan" used to ensnare innocent victims:
1. The senses are not the seat of wisdom.
2. The Law of Karma (the effect of our past deeds, whether good or bad) is a reality.
3. The world and the beings in it are realities; not illusions.
4. The spiritual dimension is also real.
5. No one should kill animals.
6. We must endure patiently the life conditons that we cannot change.
7. Do not mortify (inflict wounds upon) the body.
8. Always be truthful, sincere, and pure of conduct.
9. Do not steal.
10. Do not be unfaithful to your spouse. Control all earthly desires. "

We have self-control. That's why we r gonna be punished if we do what Satan says. Yes satan is bad and Satan can says really "sounds great" things lots of time but since we have the self-control and brain we have to think what is wrong and what is right.
And since we r only humans nothing else we can do mistakes of course. That's why we have the chance for apologize to God.

Satan is a fallen angel from Gods kingdom of Heaven.
Satan rather than worshipping God wanted to be worshipped himself.
Thus he was removed from Heaven along with others that wished to follow.
People have FREE WILL, the devil in his limited power (no power over Christians) will use any opportunities to seek, kill and destroy you.
He does not want you going to heaven and wants company.
Again, our free will to choose right from wrong is therefore the reason why a person would get blammed for poor judgement etc.
People can be saved through Jesus Christ our one true Lord God and Saviour. It is through him that we can be saved from sin and enter into the kingdom of God.
Those that blame others for their mistakes or choices are just looking for a scapegoat.

If the universe is created by GOD then Satan must exist for a purpose that only GOD knows. In other words you cannot have cold without hot. You cannot have white without black and certainly cannot have good without evil. How in the hell (pardon the pun) would we mortals learn anything? But who am I, you'll probably have some religious nut writing you a book quoting scriptures about the birds and the bee's

Satan tries to take people away from God by convincing them that they are too bad to deserve salvation and he lies to them in that he convinces them that actions that will harm them or someone else are desirable.
Adam and Eve's disobedience to God, caused all people to become separated from God. God knew that this would happen. He already had a plan from the beginning. This plan was that He, Himself, in the form of a human would come to the earth and become the sacrifice that would erase each mans sins and place him back in a perfect relationship with God.
Jesus, who the Bible speaks of as the second Adam, came to the earth, lived, suffered and, died as the ultimate sacrifice that God requires for the payment of sin.
When we realize that we are sinful, accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, and follow Him. We are declared righteous and Satan has no power against us.
Jesus lives, He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Because of His resurrection, we can also be resurrected to eternal life.

He actually sometimes goes in peoples bodies and try to take their body. They also sometimes whisper bad things in your ear to do bad things but you don't neccassary hear them. Poeple should like ignore them and try to follow thier religion as good as they can and never let anyone try to make you do bad. Satan doesn't make you do bad things they just suggest it. Like you have a mind to think, so make the right decesion. Thats why people will get punished for letteing them take over and let them do bad things and follow the satan, that why they go to Hell. God will punish satan but also its followers

Answer 1 for Question 1 : Among many other things
Answer 2 for Question 2 : Satan can't make you do anything if you don't listen to him but he can influence you and tempt you to say, think and do things that are not of God.
Answer 3 of Question 3 : If one does go to Hell they go there as an intruder and because one has sent them self there for disobeying and rebeling against God's will.
Answer 4 of Question 4 : They are not saved and they go to Hell,if they go, because they chose to disobey God,they chose not to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and because of these things and other things that are not of God is why they may face eternal damnation.
Satan is to blame for all of the wickedness that goes on in this world but it is up to us to choose to be tempted by the devil or rebuke the devil and his lies.
If you choose to be tempted by the devil and live in sin then your reward is temporarily but if you choose to obey God and live righteously the reward is eternal life.

Satan used to be an angel, but he rebelled against God in Heaven, so he got thrown to Hell. He's always trying to get revenge against God and His believers. He temps humans into going against God's word (this is called sin). Not to mention that He was laughing when Jesus was crucified. That's why we consider Him bad.
