From personal experience, I've come to the concusion that christians believe that non-christians are horrible people with no ethics and moral values. I'm an atheist. I live a fulfilling life. I have good morals. I donate my time to good causes. I am respectful and an upstanding citizen and raise my child to be the same. I carry all decent and good values. So why is it that every time anyone discovers that i'm not a christian this horrid look crosses their face and they no longer wish to associate with me when in actuality i'm probably an all around better person than them?

I'm a former christian turned Buddhist. You have an excellent question, and I have an answer. Christians are afraid of the possibility that their faith in for nothing. They are afraid of change, and the people who accept it.
I'm not a Buddhist because I was witnessed to by one. Or there was some great gathering or calling for it. Noone ever tried to convince me it was the right way. I don't witness to people or try to change thier religious values because it isn't a part of Buddhism. Your right your probably a better person than most because you don't care what others believe. Too many wars have been faught over faiths that may not be true. I hope you live a peacful, long, prosperous life.

I am a Christian and I don't believe I am better than anyone is not a believer. I just feel like I found the truth a little sooner. I regret that so many Christians act this way when Jesus tells us in the bible not to be judgmental toward others. I am glad that you have a good life but I still think that it is only because of God that your life is good and it can only get better if you accept Jesus. With him all things will be possible for you and he will give you even more joy and he can give you all the things he promises to those who love him. He'll give you eternal life in heaven when you die with family members and with him where there is indescribable happiness and fun instead of hell.
Just know that not all Christians are like the ones you met and some of us love everyone just like Jesus did and we definitely don't think we are any more loved or any better. Jesus loves you unconditionally and he loves you no less than all the Christians put together. Please believe in him because he is with you and your child all the time even though you can't see him. He thinks of you and is talking about you every second. He counts your hairs because he cares so much. Nobody on earth loves anybody that much!

Perhaps the look is more of worry...it would be in my case.
A true Christian is a believer in Jesus Christ.
Just because one uses the title or does good things shows a Godlikeness rather than being of God.
The fact that your concluding that "Christians" have that belief is now you JUDGING as others have done on to you...looks like the moral, respectful person took a turn here right.
Most of us are worried about your salvation and have a duty to guide you in the right direction.
You can lead a horse to water...but you can't make him drink.
Free will is given to us...when we realize that it is His will that we live for you will find happiness and true riches beyond that of just being "a good upstanding citizen."

It's probably fear rmoreso than anything else. Fear because they think you are going to hell for not being Christian - I would like to think it's fear *for* you, but I've met some Christians who simply decide someone is evil and a bad influence, and therefore won't associate.
But one of my best friends is a very strong Christian, and she gets this look of fear on her face when I speak some of my views. She explained that it's because she's worried for me, and so it doesn't bother me any more. She hasn't stopped being my friend, and she doesn't preach to me or push anything on me. So, don't judge them all by a few bad examples.

I am sorry that you have dealt with Christians who want to show themselves as holier than you. They, like me, are just sinners, saved by God's grace. That is where we all stand on level ground; the business of what each of us believes is different. You and I could have a debate over points of belief and faith, but my beliefs do not make me superior to you.

precisely how are atheists dogmatic? Do you even understand what the note skill? Atheist haven't any dogma: "gadget of concepts or tenets, as of a church," "a religious doctrine it really is proclaimed as authentic with out data," "A preparation or set of teachings laid down via a religious team, usually as area of the needed beliefs of the gang." Atheists ought to miss about theists if there have been not some who attempt to rigidity each body else to stay via their guidelines. faith has been the reason behind misery, torture, lack of life, etc. for its finished historic past. there is not something solid that comes from faith which does not exist with out faith, yet there's a lot it really is undesirable about faith -- that dogma element -- that would not exist with out faith.

Nothing. The only difference is they have Christ as Savior. Do remember the comparison is not to other human beings but to God. I am a Christian.

why do you have to be better than them? I think you may find your are interpreting things incorrectly.
I don't think they think they are better than you. That said, they are people just like you with flaws and problems and some of those may be a feeling of superiority. It is not a healthy attitude. People are people. We all are flawed. I would think they more likely feel sad for you. You thnk all is well and yet you may find later in life that you are missing something.

Being a Christian does not automatically make someone better than others. Hopefully they can use their spirtuality for personal growth, but if they don't that's their loss and they aren't better people than you.

Sin & God don't mix for one thing.
Being good is required of all of us regardless of religion and still doen't buy us a ticket to Heaven.
Believe it or not.
