My g/f is a Crhistian and she asked me to go with her to one of those meetings where all Crhistian followers sing, read the bible and stuff and all the leaders in charge of it seemed kind of fake to me. Have anyone who is not a Christian been in these kinds of gatherings?

If it is bad we have obviously taken it out of context but if it is in the favor of our current morals it's the holy gospel? Please make up your mind. Or perhaps next time I want to point out a flaw in the bible I'll just qoute the entire book....

The Old Testament:

"I shall smite thee! Cut off thy hands! Kill all their children! Drown everyone into oblivion! Strike you down with all my anger! Send all plagues into thy city!!!! Muahahahaha!!

and the New Testament:

"Oh, love each other, turn the other cheek, cast the first stone if you're pure, God is all love, Christ will die for you, don't worry; nail me-it is written;

I see a lot of Christians pointing out "bad" people that were atheists.

Yet whenever someone points out a mass murderer / Spanish Inquisitioner / crusader who was a Christian and killed lots of innocent people, they always say "Well, they weren't REALLY a Christian or they wouldn't do those things."

Yet, if you believe in Jesus, and worship Jehovah, and follow the Bible, and kill people because of it (like they did in the BIble, lest we forget), how is it fair to say that person wasn't Christian? A Christian is a follower of Christ, period.

Is there a name for this logical fallacy of slandering others by association yet refusing to allow the same criticism to be applied to your religion by "disowning" anyone who makes you look bad? I've been trying to put a name to it, but Wiki is coming up blank.

I see a lot of questions on here...Why do all Christians say this?...Why do all Muslims do that?...Why do all Atheists do this and that?

First thing...what is with the word "all"? Sweeping generalizations on loaded judgemental questions do nothing other than infuriate those being referenced...yet the questions keep surfacing on here. Why do we feel the need to judge?

In Gensis1:27, God created man and women to be like him. Then on Gensis 2:7 God made man, but in Gensis2:21,22,23, God makes Adam fall into a deep sleep and from him takes a rib out of Adam and makes into a women and brings her to Adam. Then as the sory goes, she made everyone evil with her temptation of the man, whom can't think for himself. If he can why was he so eager to trust a women? In Gensis 1:27, God created women to be like him. Why is all fault in the world, a women's. If man could think for themselves, it wouldn't have gotten us into anything. I guess it only seems right to have a women as Jezebel to tempt man again, if that is the way the world is going, women getting ahead by sleeping with a man, then why aren't the women in higher positions today then being as useful as a horse?

First, I would like to thank all of you who answered my last question, for Bible verses against homosexuality. Now, after I have looked them up and read them, I have a few things to say on them. Scripures from Genisis, Duet. 1 King, and Judges 19 ( which I will not go into at this time, but it is a bad reference, it means something else) the only thing I have a problem with - since the other's were faulty, is Acts, Romans, 1 Corinthians, and 1 Timothy. Those were all written by the same man. Paul. It seems to me that Paul was projecting what he was to others. ( Projection is the attibuting ones own undesirabl;e traits to the other people or agencies). What if Paul was gay, and hated it so much within himself that he condemned those who are homosexual by nature? That there is, in fact, nothing wrong with being gay? Paul never did meet Jesus, and he certianly does not preach about love. Thoughts, and opinions.

Jesus Christ preached of love and understanding but a crucifix surely symbolises death and torture.

It contradicts everything it is supposed to represent!

i read in a book about the history of science the following paragraph:

There are ...[those]..., who deny that evolution has ever occurred. Most of them are American, because a quirk of history (coupled with some idiosyncratic tax laws) has made evolution into a major educational issue in the United States. There, the battle between Darwins followers and his opponents is not just about the intellectual high ground. It is about dollars and cents...

Unfortunately, the author does not elaborate on this, and leaves me to wonder what quirk of history and in particular which tax laws he is referring to, and what exactly their impact on the issue is.

Can anyone enlighten me, please?

...oh, and please do elaborate, since i am not a citizen of the United States and not familiar with their 'idiosyncrasies'. :)
