Do you think of a person who refuses to change as narrow minded? Could it be that they may be right, so why bother to change? Perhaps you should be more open minded and stop judging others and name calling. A judge who sits on the bench and after hearing the case, makes a decision is not narrow or even closed minded, they made a decision based on what they know, why be critical of that? Don't you do the same thing all the time. Your may order you salad as I do, without tomato. I don't like tomato and I am not going to eat tomato, does that make me closed minded?

Should the "christian" nations invade the vatican and put the pope and his horde or materialistic false prophets out on the street so they can distribute the wealth to the hungry and poor?

My fiancees parents do not believe in divorce and they think he should keep persueing his ex wife even tough they have been divorced almost two years. We have been dating one year. His father is a pastor and he will not marry us because he said it goes aginiast his christianity. I am a christian but I feel like this is going over board. Also his parents say that they will love me despite the fact that we should not be together. This hurts my feelings and does not feel like real aceptance. Any thoughts or ideas on how to handle this?

I was born and raise catholic (now I'm not) in a country whose population is 90% catholic (colombia) and I never met somebody who was against the use of condoms or contraconceptives. I studied in a catholic school and I never heard a priest or a sister telling me that condoms were bad so, is there actually normal catholics that are against such items? I'm not BTW.

Read this please
A voyaging ship was wrecked during a storm at sea
and only two of the men on it were able to swim to a
small, desert like island. The two survivors, not
knowing what else to do, agree that they had no
other recourse but to pray to God.

However, to find out whose prayer was more
powerful, they agreed to divide the territory
between them and stay on opposite sides of the
island.

The first thing they prayed for was food. The next
morning, the first man saw a fruit-bearing tree on
his side of the land, and he was able to eat its
fruit. The other man's parcel of land remained
barren.

After a week, the first man was lonely and he
decided to pray for a wife. The next day, another
ship was wrecked, and the only survivor was a woman
who swam to his side of the land. On the other side
of the island, there was nothing.

Soon the first man prayed for a house, clothes,
more food. The next day, like magic, all of these
were given to him. However, the second man still
had nothing.

Finally, the first man prayed for a ship, so that
he and his wife could leave the island. In the
morning, he found a ship docked at his side of the
island. The first man boarded the ship with his
wife and decided to leave the second man on the
island. He considered the other man unworthy to
receive God's blessings, since none of his prayers
had been answered.

As the ship was about to leave, the first man
heard a voice from heaven booming, "Why are you
leaving your companion on the island?" "My
blessings are mine alone, since I was the one who
prayed for them," the first man answered. "His
prayers were all unanswered and so he does not
deserve anything."

"You are mistaken!" the voice rebuked him. "He
had only one prayer, which I answered. If not for
that, you would not have received any of my
blessings.

"Tell me," the first man asked the voice, "what
did he pray for that I should owe him anything?"

"He prayed that all your prayers be answered."

For all we know, our blessings are not the fruits
of our prayers alone, but those of another praying
for us.

When Jesus died on the cross he was thinking of
you!
If you are one of the 7% who will stand up for him ?

"I am one of the 7%".

This is a follow up to my question of 30 minutes ago, I was trying to understand definition of "atheist" here.
I'm awed by the sheer number of responses, including some that really clear up my confusion, for which I'm grateful.
But why all the vitriol? This was an honest question (no, I haven't see the other discussions about this, I'm pretty new here), is it impossible to ask a sincere question here without all the flaming? Maybe I'm completely wrong about this, but it feels like there are some awfully angry folks out there looking for an outlet to vent.
