I have two cats that are better then most people I have met in my life. They have not used me, taken advantaged to me, or lied to me. They do not borrow money, ask for new clothes all the time, (no I do not have children) do not drink, use drugs, fight me over the remote for the TV, they like my music, do not get on my Computer and use it all the time, keep me awake at night worrying if they are safe, and they LET ME live with them. All I have to do is buy the groceries and pay the bills. Ahhh so sweet.

Yeah, I'm one of those people. I'm more nurturing towards animals than I am humans, unless it's a family member.
It's because animals don't make judgments on petty things like, what you believe in, or what brand of clothing you're wearing. They judge simply by the energy humans give off. Animals are incredibly sensitive and can tell the difference between an animal-lover and someone who couldn't care less.
They also have the ability to help the sick. That's why you see people go into nursing homes with dogs, pot-bellied pigs, miniature horses, and even cats. Animals are therapy because they radiate such love and acceptance.
There are many other reasons why I like animals better than humans, I could write a book on it.
Animals are beautiful beings and should be treated with respect.

have you ever known an animal to bad mouth you behind your back. You might notice many of these people fall into the category of peole gossips love to use as subject matter. People as a group are way more loyal than man which is another good reason for some who find mankind very disappointing. As for me I think pets are a lot of trouble, but not as much as many people.

It has to do with rejection. Rarely will animals reject the affections of a human, but humans seem to make careers out of rejecting one another. Rejection is very painful and can scare a person spiritually for life. It often starts in childhood, and then carries over into adulthood. It is cool to be cruel to humans, but unlawful to be cruel to an animal. A person can actually be jailed faster for animal cruelty than he can be for child abuse. We live in an upside down, inside out world where all the priorities are placed in all the wrong places. I love animals and I would never deliberately harm one. I also love people and desire no harm to anyone. A person should never loose their love for animals, but if they have a problem with co-existing with people, then they need counseling on this. they also need contact on a continuous basis to receive a spiritual cure for this ailment called rejection. It is a social disorder that can easily be cured through spiritual experiences.

I'm probably guilty of this myself. I think it's because animals are like children. They need our help. Animals can't stand up for themselves when they are abused or even killed for no reason. I look at these dog rescue sights and will just start crying because of the cruelty. I have five dogs and I worry about them just like they were my kids, but I don't have any children. If I had children, I'm sure I would worry more about them, than my dogs.
The worlds a cruel place to children and animals. It's hard to stay balanced.

I don't know.
There's a case last year where a cougar attacked & killed lady jogger in northern California.
The cougar was hunted down & killed. Two cubs were found afterwards.
Some people set up a trust fund for the cubs, instead of having them sent to a zoo or wildlife refuge.
Ironically, these same people didn't even give the lady's children the time of day.
Pretty sad state of affairs in America today.

Some seem to have decided that it's the right thing to do by deciding which humans "deserve" to be treated well and which don't.
Animals seem to be different in that they cannot do the things people do that make them unworthy of love and respect.

Yes, I think I treat both animals and people equally but I'd be lying if I said I liked them both equally. I like animals better because they give unconditional love and they don't judge you by your looks, how you dress, how much money you have, etc. They will be your friend forever, whereas with friends, if they are not your real friends, they won't stick around.

I can't speak for them, but maybe they've been hurt by people in their lives and have given up on humans and have turned to their animal for comfort. Their animal won't hurt them like humans do, so they feel safe. They know they can love their pet and it won't turn on them or hurt them. Only they know for sure why they do this. I know people who have empty nests and their kids or grandkids won't visit, so they got a dog and they spoil it, because that's what they want to do with their kids and grandkids, but they won't come visit and don't want them to visit. It's really quite sad.

Animals are innocent creatures who look to us for thier care. They love us unconditionally which is a hard thing to find in people. They are happy to see us no matter what our mood or frame of mind. They are also very forgiving. They are much easier to get along with than most people.
