Yes, most definitely. According to church law, a godparent must be a baptized and confirmed Catholic of at least 16 years of age, living a life which befits the office of godparent, free from ecclesiastical penalty, and not the actual parent of the child.

more than likely yes. your brother must be a catholic to be a godfather. in order to be a godfather, he must be a practicing catholic-goes to mass every sunday, take and participate in the eucharist, baptized and confirmed.

That would be a new one on me. I'm pretty strict on that point myself (although not RC). My only requirement is that the Godparents be Baptized and Practicing Christians. I thought I got that rule from my RC brethren...i might be wrong. I just have never heard of that!

The RC church usuallly only demands that godparents vow to raise the child Catholic. As long as he's a practicing Christian, even the RC church shouldn't have a problem.
