I haven't said that he didn't write the bible. I have said that the bible is no different than the Iliad or Beowulf. Folklore, that's it.

I don't agree with everything in the bible. Certainly I do agree with some parts, as would be expected. The bible was based on the morals and philosophies of the times it was written, some of which are still valid today. This doesn't bother me at all. I don't believe god actually said or did anything, but there's no reason I shouldn't agree with some of what is attributed to him.

When did "God" ever claim to have written or not written the Bible? Every time God comes up in the Bible, it's in the third person and the viewpoint is always human. If "God" ever made such a statement, I'd gladly agree, then investigate where the statement came from.

I haven't a clue what you are talking about. Agree with him how? The Bible is a very primitive basis for morality, and to atheists all the prejudice and eye-for-an-eye justice is repulsive. In the later parts, Christ isn't that bad, but if you say we are bothered for some reason because we agree with most of the things said by the son of god and not god himself, please rephrase.
EDIT: Are you saying that God said he did not write the Bible? Then why are there all these loonie Christians taking every word of it as, ahem, "God's word". Because it seems like you may be on our side as much as theirs...

Any atheist who has come to the conclusion of atheism through research knows and understands the bible much more than I'm sure you do. See the Odyssey. They are both historical documents with much embellishment.

not one tiny bit, actually.
that is mainly because my strife is not with god, who until today pretty much refrained from interfering with my life, but with those who call themselves his facilitators on earth. most of which DO claim the bible to be gods unmediated word, by the way.

God the author of the Bible inspired his faithful to write the books and letters of scriptures.
God never handed a complete Bible to humans and said here you go. From Moses to the Apostle John there were 40 authors over a period of 1500 years. There is no other book like it on the whole earth.
Too bad for the thumbs down but it is just the facts.

Nope. There are a limited number of rational opinions possible. Odds are, we were bound to agree on something at some point.
