It is not about being proud or anything.
Some people see that their religion is not correct and contradicts many thing..........or they dont have the satisfaction in their hearts.
That is why they search for another religion that they think is better, true and will find the satisfaction.
You might want to talk to some converts and discuss the issue.

They're all searching for God. That's a good thing. The only thing is that I think we're too fond of talking at God and telling him stuff, when we should be really quiet and listening to find out what he wants from us and in which direction (and religion) we should go. Others follow fashions (New Age people), and others because they've been put off by fanatics in their own religion.

People have not understood the real meaning and purpose of religion.
Religion means constitutional position - the inherent quality. For example the religion of sugar is to be sweet. Have you heard of sugar being salty or bitter? Religion of salt is to be salty and so on.
In the same way the real religion of a human being is to love and once we love someone we serve him or her.
The so called religions of the world have been designated based on one's birth. Actually we are spirit souls and the quality of all the souls is same. Whether you are a Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Jew or whatever. It does not matter. That has not happenned by your choice or free will.
Once we understand this then it really does not matter. As long as we follow the laws of Supreme God, love Him and serve Him we have not to bother about so called religions.

I was raised Christian by Christian parents. When I grew up and was able to think for myself, I came to the realization that I didn't believe in anything I had been taught growing up. I had come to my own conclusions based on observation and experience, and they did not gel with Christianity at all. So, I left it for Wicca (after years of struggling to really realize I would not be following Satan by doing so) and have since been a very happy person.

It has nothing to do with pride in being a Christian. It had to do with deciding I didn't want to be a liar and attend church every Sunday to pray to a God that isn't my God.

If they had any pride to start with, they wouldn't have a religion. Believing in ghosts and goblins past the age of five is just embarrassing.

Because a lot of us were born into a religion and now see that the faith we were handed isn't what we would choose. Now that we are older, wiser, and better educated in the world we choose what faith follows our true beliefs and not what we were told to believe.

"Pride" has nothing to do with change... usually it's a critical exam of their own beliefs as opposed to what their religion of origin is telling them and finding disparity. "Pride" is a selfish concept and serves nothing BUT the "self". Wisdom is far more skillful behavior and whatever that wisdom brings the person to more wisdom and altruism and happiness is what they should settle on.
