I saw this Christian saying in an Atheist thread that no "real" Christian could ever turn to Atheism - that if they were an atheist, then they must not have been a proper Christian to begin with.

I think it's terribly unfair to insist that someone wasn't a "true" Christian or didn't "really" believe the Bible just because they turn away from it later. Just because you don't like what someone believes, how does that give you the right to pretend like you know everything about them?

Many Christians DO turn away from Christianity. I was one once myself and I was just as much a believer as anyone. Your after-the-fact rationalization is based on what you'd like the truth to be - not the truth itself.

How do you explain the growing number of well-known, well-educated scientists who have cited SCIENTIFIC evidence for their change of hear and acceptance of a creator/intelligent design. This example is probably old news to many of you but in the linked article Prof. Antony Flew, a british philospher and as this article points out "considered the world's most famous atheist" does a 180 and cites unfolding SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE for his change of heart.

Isn't in great that we are all atheists with regards to:

Zeus, Poseidon, Mithra, Ra the sun God, Dyonisis etc.

We also agree that these are nonsense:
black cat superstitions, Alchemy, Astrology etc.

Wouldn't you agree that the only real difference between an Atheist and a Christian is that Atheists believe in ONE LESS GOD than Christians?

I can't think of anyone who hates the Amish, and why is that...? Because they mind their own damn business, that's why! They live their lives according to the tenets of their faith just fine without trying to control everybody else's lives! But Christians want to write the laws of the land to prohibit anything THEY personally don't like, for example gay marriage... Why not leave us alone, and we'll leave you alone and we'll all get along...?

there are passages that suggest the bible is 1) not the most moral or ethical book: Luke 12:47-48 NLT 1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT
2) a terrible science book Lev. 11:13, 19 (See also Deut. 14:11, 18) 3) not historically accurate 4) very shady on describing the afterlife.

religion is the biggest cause of war as most people who follow a religion think if you arnt one of us then you arnt as good as us in some way or another...i think it should be a case of anyone who practices a religion that even thinks about others or effects them in any way what so ever they should be put against a wall and shot. and if you think that is a bit harsh then think about how many people have died in less humane ways becouse your religion has passed over there doorstep.

If we were in fact designed than clearly intelligence was not a factor. Why do we have an appendix? or a gall bladder? Why isn't our weight better distributed so as to prevent back issues? What purpose to all toes (excluding the big toe) serve? (The Big toe helps us balance) I would think that if we had a creator, he must have been drunk at the time.

The more I think about it, the more I realize that my personal spirituality is more in line with songs such as "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "Breathe" than any dogma of an organized religion.

And when you get right down to it, is there any differance between reading the words written by man in the Bible and applying them to your life, or listening to the words sung by man on Dark Side of the Moon or the White Album and doing the same?

I'm not suggesting that I have alters to these musical artists or that I pray to them for guidence, more like I listen to what they have to say and think "Yeah... I can dig that."

What do you think of this? Wrong? Right? Crazy?

In closing, I'll leave you with my favorite scene from the movie Michael.

"Remember what John and Paul said."
"The Apostles?"
"No, the Beatles. All you need is love."

okay so my mil decided she is not speaking to me. I have been embarrassed several times in public becuz i chose to greet her anyway just to be snubbed. After repeatedly trying to be nice inspite of, i decided to just pretend she is not even around. This was great becuz i knew she was waiting on the opportunity to snub me and get the power she thrives on. It felt really good to be in control of the situation rather than look stupid. Okay.. silly...but you have to know the hell ive been thru with her to understand. Anyway, once i got home, i felt bad becuz i know that was not the Christian thing to do. IS it really wrong if i know she is not going to speak and I have done nothing wrong for her to act this way.

First off, I apologize in advance if anything I say here is unitentionally offensive.

I've noticed a lot of people putting the letters "pbuh" after the Prophet's name when they talk on religion boards. I understand that this means "praise be upon him" or something similar.

My question is, are you really respecting and praising someone if you're taking a shortcut because you don't want to bother typing out your praise for them? I know a lot of Christians get upset when people write "Christmas" as "Xmas" because they say it's disrespectful to shorten Jesus Christ's name that way. I was just wondering if any of the local Muslims felt the same about "pbuh"?

God created everything, so isn't Satan apart of god? So wouldn't that mean that god it evil or has pride and what not. Since "All" Comes from him. Doesn't that mean that god is both god and evil?
