I can't think of anyone who hates the Amish, and why is that...? Because they mind their own damn business, that's why! They live their lives according to the tenets of their faith just fine without trying to control everybody else's lives! But Christians want to write the laws of the land to prohibit anything THEY personally don't like, for example gay marriage... Why not leave us alone, and we'll leave you alone and we'll all get along...?

Actually, if you think that people don't hate the Amish and other pacifist church groups, you're wrong. During World Wars I and II, the Amish were often the targets of vandalism, harassment and so forth because of their refusal to go into combat. Just wanted to point that out. As for your other accusations, there are plenty of Christian groups that don't openly proselytize, attempt to influence legislation, or force their religious beliefs on others, so your entire premise is flawed to begin with.

Real Christians do not try to control lives or write laws, and it's nothing personal. Living according to the tenets of OUR faith does not mean sitting back and ignoring those who don't believe in Christ, but trying to minister to bring people toward having a relationship with him. Many Christians get a bad rap because anything we say is taken by non-believers as condescending and having a "holier than thou" attitude. Most of what I see on Answers is not Christians attacking non-believers, but the other way around. Everyone has a hay-day putting down the Christians and I think it's time to grow up.

Look back at the life of Jesus. Did he think to just leave people alone? He must have felt it was important to go out into the communities of his day and preach about the Kingdom of God. He felt it necessary to allow people to hear a message that would give them hope for a time when wars, suffering, problems, and anxieties would be done away with forever! He barely ate or slept. He felt pity for the people because they were being taught by unrighteous religious leaders. He tried so hard to set that record straight as to why he came to the earth, and to give the people who listened a purpose and a hope that someday the earth would be restored back to God's original purpose, that being, a paradise earth where no one would ever grow old, get sick or die. So, if you feel you are being bothered then don't listen. Not all people listened to Jesus either. But, those that do, and change their way of thinking will be greatly blessed by having that promise of a paradise earth their reality. Jesus gave his life up for that purpose alone and to prove Satan the greatest liar ever! As for the Amish, the Bible says not to isolate yourself. The Bible also says that God's true followers would be doing what Matthew 24:14 says to do. Sadly, the Amish are not fulfilling that command. And, they are having their own problems from within. Their young people are rebelling, and they refuse to let others join their religion. Would Jesus have felt that way? He said,"Come and follow me."

I agree.
We are to abide by the law. If the politicians OK Gay marriage, or abortion, that's the law. It doesn't mean that I have to be OK with it, or participate in it. I choose God over pettiness. I spread the word by loving others, unconditionally. I am only responsible for my own actions, and if someone allows me to show them the path to God, then I will be blessed, and have a dear friend for eternity.

To quote you, 'Why don't you leave us alone and then we'll all get along?' This is a bit of a double standard, you want Christians to leave you alone and yet feel it is alright to go after Christians and try to force your beliefs on them.

I'm a Christian and I don't think all Christians feel exactly the same way. Please don't lump all Christians together, because there are different sects of Christianity and not all Christians are narrow minded.

I happen to think that two people who love each other should be able to wed each other. I'm actually for gay marriage.

I know not everyone shares my views but I'm ok with that!!!!

There are control freaks who claim to be serving the Lord and there are Christians with good intentions, who become controlling in there excitement to serve. When you choose to visit this section of Q&A prepare yourself to see both types represented here.

Westboro Baptists hate them, but they hate everyone. I almost forgot about the Amish. Man I like them. Mostly because I don't know any, but that works too.

Because Christians worry about your future apparently more than you do. If there is a possibility of someone you know burning in a lake of fire for eternity. Wouldn't you try to stop it. If there is no hell, big deal, we all live our lives and die. If there is a hell, I feel sorry for all those that are to self righteous to see the truth.
