I don't understand. Wasn't both mexico and Usa conquered by Europeans who brought christianity with them ?

So why Most mexicans are devoted catholics or christians while Americans are so divided and many of them are Atheists?

Blue Oct is right. The U.S is far more diverse than Mexico containing people from all over the world who bring their religion to the states with them and plus we are better educated. And your "most Mexicans are devoted catholics" should be "most Mexicans are devoted to superstition".
America is diverse in all ways, and there is nothing wrong with that.

The real question should be: Why do so many conservative Christians have a problem with illegal mexican immigrants when they are pulling for the same God as you?

And, to answer your question: Just look at Mexico. We can agree it is a third World Country, right? And, it is devoutly religious....Hhhmmmm... Interesting coorelation. High Poverty, low education, and highly devout.

Mexicans worship "La Santa Muerte".

Aztec religion still pervades Mexico, don't go there, unless you want to get wacked.

Perhaps there is more diversity in religion in the U.S. because there is a higher rate of diversity in ethnicity. Perhaps it has to do with our less-rigid government system. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that our education system is far superior to that of Mexico's.
