People can believe what they want. Religion is NOT the biggest cause of war. People wanting resources and territory is the biggest cause of war, mate.

Yes, for all three religions are based on erroneous thoughts and are illogical and delusional.
We are at the brink of a third world war because of Islam, Christianity and Judaism, the three main culprits.
I am sorry if I have offended anyone with my free speech, but if one throws stones then they shouldn't live in glass houses.
All three religions are nothing more than man made institutions, based on fear and hatred in search for ultimate power over any society and individual.
I would rather see the rise of humanitarianism than the same old cracked record, playing the same old lies.
They are bigoted against homosexuals and women (all gods creations), are insecure against logical debate and have brought nothing more into our world than pain, suffering, war and prejudice.
It is about time that our world shrugs off such foolish and damaging superstitions and focus upon saving our planet and humanity from such ignorant knaves.
We in effect can only be our own saviours, the answers lies within each and everyone of us and not in the domain of the privileged few.

I'm a Humanist, and I would not support any attempt to abolish religion. I truly believe in freedom of religion. For many people, their faith is an essential part of their lives, a central element in their pursuit of happiness. I would not want someone else to tell me what I must or must not believe, or how to worship or not worship; by the Golden Rule, neither would I try to dictate to others.
Selfishness is at the root of all conflict. Unfortunately, there are many selfish religious people who are certain that their faith is the only true one and that they have the right--no, the duty--to force others to accept their faith--thus the conflict between religions.

I agree with most of what you say, but alas abolition does not work. Look at countries where it has been tried - the Soviet block, for example, where it emerged stronger than ever. You can not enforce disbelief, and banning something gives it the allure of the forbidden.
I do however, think that religion should be disenfranchised. No more tax-relief, no more state funding for 'faith-schools' etc. Why should we pay for the propagation of untruth and anti-science?
Then maybe it with wither and fade, and the world will grow up at last.

Religion is not the cause of war , it is merely the excuse used by people to justify their bloodlust. Granted many people are controlled by their dependence on religion but overall it is a way for people to express their faith in the Source of all that is. At times these people express greater ignorance by holding fast to dogma over truth but it is greed, anger , hatred intolerance the lust for power that has created war people just use religion or any other reason they can to justify their actions( Terrorism for example)

If only we could. They want to be treated fairly and yet they discriminate.
I think we should tax believers...lots of money to be made...(the vatican understands!). We should tax them because religions have been and still are costly, they have caused many wars, encourage discrimination and some have even helped the spread of AIDS while at the same time they have made people feel guilty and bad about themselves....
Lets tax them....

Yes - politics is the 'new' religion and is ousting Centuries of well-established practices and attitudes thanks in part to the ease of World-wide communication and transport - but also due to technological advancements used by the military.
