I think it is a form of reverse psychology. Turn the majority into victims and turn the vocal minority into the abuser. You would not believe how many christian I speak with who honestly say they are being persecuted by the liberals and atheists in America (let me see...85% christian 15% non-christian).

No true Scotsman is a term coined by Antony Flew in his 1975 book Thinking About Thinking. It refers to an argument which takes this form:

Argument: "No Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."
Reply: "But my uncle Angus likes sugar with his porridge."
Rebuttal: "Ah yes, but no true Scotsman puts sugar on his porridge."

This form of argument is a fallacy if the predicate ("putting sugar on porridge") is not actually contradictory for the accepted definition of the subject ("Scotsman"), or if the definition of the subject is silently adjusted after the fact to make the rebuttal work.

I would like to devote this to all the "nice" Christians who insist that I never "truly" accepted Jesus in my 20-odd years of being a Christian, having a personal relationship with God, attending church three times a week, going to Bible camp every summer, going to Christian schools and college, being a Bible Quizzer, and praying every day.

Why do a lot hate Jehovah's witnesses or they have something against them??? They are like any other religions, with different beliefs, of course. No different from Hindus, that believe in different gods, or Jews, that don't even believe Jesus came to earth the first time, or even Christians, that believe in the rapture, or Catholics, that believe in Saints... It's just different beliefs, we should respect them, like we do anybody else.

Several atheist here have said that they are ex-christians. I am wondering if they know that if they had ever placed their faith in Christ and what He did for them on the cross, then they are sealed and can never lose that standing? Or do you mean that you use to go to church and because of that you call yourself a christian.

Does this offend you? That I choose to go about my life looking forward to a promised future of everlasting life in a way that my mind cannot fathom?
Does it offend you because I choose to love, and forgive, and have faith that my patience will be rewarded?
Does it bother you that I want to believe there is a reason for my being other than what YOU may see a need for?
Does it offend you because I will not choose YOUR ideas and concepts or does it bother you because you cannot feel as I do?
WHY does it bother you so much?
Why does it offend you?
It is my life, and I choose to spend it how I choose.

The 10 commandments

As I recently read in "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins, most religions involve the belief in a pleasant afterlife (ie: Heaven) where one will live forever in the presence of their creator and be happy. Bearing this in mind, why then are so many believers afraid of death? When a loved one is about to die, why aren't they happy for them, knowing that they are going to a better place? What are your thoughts on this?

Is it the guilt on your part for being so self centered. Who are you trying to convince, us or yourselves? Is it that after awhile, you become so full of yourselves and become so prideful, that it just doesn't matter anymore? Is full realization when you have made yourselves to be the centers of your own universes?

How does an athiest get offended when you tell them that they never were Christian if they are now athiest? Does that make sense? Why would they really care if they truly do not believe? Why would an athiest even call him or herself an ex-Christian...is this some type of extra kudo to make him or her look like a rock hard athiest? It does the complete opposite in my opinion.

then how is one that is not of Arabic heritage to read the teachings? It would be theologically wrong to translate and this would mean that Islam was only for people of Arabic heritage.

How do Persions for example read the Koran as they were actually excluded by the teaching of the book due to it is not to be translated (persions not being arabic). And what about the person who never learned to read at all? People then would be following the religion blindly because they were taught by man ...and then how are translations allowed when the writings said it must be written only in its original Arabic language. To translate would be a horrible sin.. or is some sin OK? I can not see how this is justified.

Do Amercian Islams have the Koran in English to read also... and how can they please God when they are going against Koran teaching of no translations.

Please honest decent replies only.
